I don't know how new this add-on is but it's not like those earlier themes that you always have to download separately. With this you just click and you instantly get a new skin. You just need to add Personas to Firefox.

There are lots of nice skins although I don't really like too bright or dark ones. And there's only one tubular skin.  :/ But since anyone can create and share skins, I thought that, if you like this and like to play with graphics, perhaps you'll make an Oldfieldian skin and post links here! I might try, but am not really good at such things. It's made easy, though, or at least so they say.

I agree, Firefox (mac) is extremely Oldfield site friendly. Fast connection, good resolution, no drop outs. I use it on the computers at Uni when I am there. That is once the Mike Oldfield.com site has been updated. Hope all the links including the community link like the 2008 home page are restored. It was much easier to navigate. Hope they put up some really nice pics of Mike up. You know from early years to now. He has some whiz bang graphic designers working with him. How would you like the home page to be formatted? After all we will be the ones using the site, and to attract new fans to the site.

Admin note: two threads were originally created covering this subject. These have been merged into this remaining thread. Some posts about the duplication have been deleted to clean up the thread, hope nobody minds the edits!

What happened to the original thread? In it I was told why create a new thread when a link showed how to download skins. Now that post has gone along with my apology for causing offence. I mentioned that yes Mike Oldfield.com is indeed Firefox friendly and now TT is passing it off as a good idea. What gives?

Duplicate thread has been made visible again so people can see what changes were made.

Thank you, Matt, for cleaning up. As I said in the other thread, I should have used the search.

I've been playing with Sumo Paint now and just submitted one persona. It's a similar bell image but with a lighter background, and the bell is more visible.

They say in the forums that it could take a week or so for them to approve a new skin. It's good to know that because many people are impatient and submit their personas many times, it just slows down the process.

It didn't take long this time, the skin is now approved.

Tubular Light Blue

I have to edit it later, just a little bit. But that's pretty much it. This one should look good in big and small monitors. Hope you like it.  :)

Ohh :/ I'm sorry ex and Harmono , if i was misunderstood ! I didn't wanted to be rough or harsh ! I just wanted to say there's already one and not to moralize anybody . I also didn't wanted to create a diplomatic incident ! :)

Thanks Harmono this one is clearer !

Sorry, Harmono - I don't want to be hurtful towards you or your creativity, but I just don't like these Personas for Firefox at all. I don't even like the Tubular one. Reason? The Bent Bell doesn't show up clearly in the upper right corner of the Firefox window, and all other images make it difficult for me to read the contents of tabs when several of them are kept open (as I often do). So... wonderful, but no, thanks. I prefer plain white. :)

Plain white and light blue are the colours that most people can look at for a long time without getting annoyed and distracted. That's why I used light blue, it should be as unobtrusive as a colour can be.

About the Bell: How it looks like depends on the size of the monitor. Submitted images should be 3000 pixels wide and 200 high, so some of them might not look good, sometimes too small and sometimes too big, depending on screen size.

I see your point anyways. Why should there be anything worth looking at? It's not a place we're supposed look at while surfing on the net. Well, I just think that a small Bell at upper right corner is cool. I do find my self looking at it at times, but will most propably get used to it in short time.

Well, I don't think that, in my case, screen size is an issue. I have a 17'' monitor with a 1024x768 resolution (it is the one which fits me the best). But on my Firefox 3.6 window, the Bell goes right under the Google search bar, which is (I think) in all versions of Firefox, and which is extremely useful to me. I just don't feel that the Bell is nice to look at when it's under the Google bar, but of course that's a matter of personal preference. :)

Ah, that's true. It goes right under there. The bar is transparent (translucent), though.

It would of course be possible to create a persona using one or several smaller images. I could try that the next time I'm practicing with Sumo Paint.
