I need to find more information about the first Quad TB remix, the one done before the second one by Newell for Boxed. All I know about it it's that the sound is poor. Well, that's not much information, I need more. Someone told me Alan Parsons was involved in that first Quad TB LP, I've checked it and it's true, but it's also true that it's never said that he helped in the first quad remix instead of the second, but I know the second was a Phil Newell thing so it's quite possible.
None of my 4 Mike Oldfield books has information about this, Internet keeps it deep in dark unknown places -at least unknown for me-, fans at mailing lists don't know anything about this.
I need more information, and a musical comparison between standard TB LP and this first quad remix. Any help will be very welcomed.
This information is very needed because I'm collaborating in a Mike Oldfield Vinyl History book. You haver more info in http://www.argiers.com/.

In the full transcript of the Resolution interview, Mike explains what happened in the first attempt at a Quad TB.

Resolution Interview

Look near the bottom of the page.

A long time ago he once said that due to boredom they flew control line model aircraft in the studio. This is the noise that is heard at the end of the early Quad TB disc.

Thank you very much for the information, now I know something more about the fist quad TB and it will be enough for the book's entry about it. Anyway, should I place Alan Parsons in this first remix or did he work with Phil Newell in Boxed TB Quad remix?

No, Alan Parsons didn't work in the first pseudo-quad version of TB (the one which ends with the sound of the model plane) nor in the Boxed mix.

He remixed a couple of extracts of TB (part 1) with Tom Newman for Quadraphile, which included samples from different quad systems at the time.

You can get much more information of Mike's quad works in this page:
http://www.supercable.es/~alkazaba/mikequad.html

The page is in Spanish, but I'm sure that if you can get what is in there, Felix and some other people working on the project can help you  ;)

You can get an online translation at http://babelfish.altavista.com/
It's quite difficult to read because of the SQ box that is used as the background.

I've only just heard the Boxed version of TB... it's interesting to hear, especially The Sailor's Hornpipe... just what were they thinking?!

I guess if you substitute 'dr' for 'th' in the end, you'll be getting closer...

Thanks for the links to the interview. Very interesting. Answered many questions I've always had. And re-affirmed my personal belief that the original TB was by far the best. Mostly because it was not perfect.

Thanks again!
