I'll never forget when Yubida, the moroccan woman that worked in my home when I was a child, bought me 'Five Miles Out', and that that very day I had a wonderful paella (I'm Spanish, as you know).

I've always related since then 'Five Miles Out' with paella and the yellow tones of the cover (paella is a Spanish dish based on yellow-coloured rice and loads of other ingredients, like vegetables or meat).

I could think as well of Mike mentioning beer and cheese on Ommadawn, and think as well a nice dish of vegetables and maybe some meat could represent 'Hergest Ridge'.

Can you think of further relations between food and albums from Mike????

I think 'Islands' should be something sweet!!!!

To me, music as transcendent is of the spirit, whereas food is of the body. So music (especially Mike's) has absolutely no food associations for me.

Now that is food 4 thought!
4filling the minds appetite 4 bellee filling food, could lead to pot (popped) bellee ears if the music was lacking in goodness, full of fat and e numbers, indigestion of the mind, I fear many suffer from already.

NO sorry after a quiet moment of thought I have come up with naught in relation to my brain's drains having any recollection of music & food relationships so I must be suffering from consumption or constipation of the ears 2 not here hear my, oh wait a minuet IT'S NOW OR NEVER!! YES I SCREAM.

Captain Birdseye's songs frozen in time, like 2 Pea's from a pod, POP music 2B played on a P-POD.

Would this qualify mike as a chef? ( none related; Gordon blair crookery) MIKE MO a GASTRO? I Could go on but I will refrain and save you the pain of my quips.

Hey CJJC I left you a few that STILL need to be done.
It was supposed to be what food the album titles reminded you of. It's word association not a bloody advertising campaign. I'm sure Mike would love to see you offering those brands free advertising, when, its all come about thru his Album titles.
Plus am I right in believing he wants he's music playing in a more commercial enviroment.
Maybe you've found the answer to MIKES wishes.............................................. We contact the brands you've put up. Tell them that music was written in tribute to their product, and recorded by the man who wrote Tubular Bells.

THEN............when they say to us ...........Yes................. we would use that music for promotionol purposes.
Can you arrange a contract ?

YES I CAN.

Then we charge 30 percent of the deal for our services and retire next year with millions.

Possible...................possibly three or four years ago. Maybe furthur back.......................I just think he leaves everything too late.
Show us how to play that new music you suggested after the Tubular Net finale.......MIKE..............the one YOU did listen to. Easy to say........Not easy to do. You know................. something not Jazz, not Blues. Something new.

This has been an official Kev Sumner ..........RANt...........Cheers to everyone and goodnight.

Îles flottantes, maybe?

There's a range of Spanish wines called Campo Viejo, which makes me think of Mike every time I see them (Campo Viejo can be translated as as Old Field...).

I don't care what song/album it is, it's all about chocolate. :D   Anyone try chocolate wine? Chocolate mead? I like beer I like cars I like the taste of chocolate bars... :D  The first time we were in Kington, we were in a store and found Yorkie chocolate bars, not for girls. So now, every time I see them (because the Ithaca Wegmans carries them in the UK foods section), I think of Kington and Hergest Ridge (the place) then the album. Sometimes I bypass "place" to think "album." :)
