Faster connections = faster downloads. Faster access to streaming media. However, connection speeds have been getting faster and faster but without a decent volume of content to support it. At the moment, most online things that "work best on broadband" are gimmicky and serve no real purpose other than to waste time.
Chain mails are simply not the reason for connection speeds getting faster. They are a lot less common than they used to be, maybe because people started to wise up to them a while ago, or maybe it's just that none of my online contacts are people who send them on. I can't remember the last time I received one.
By putting up a guestbook to petition against chain mails, you won't make an impact on anything unless you do exactly what chain mails suggest: send it to all your friends! So, if you don't tell everyone about your guestbook, few people will visit it, and that defeats the purpose of having it. And if you do, you're mimicking the behaviour of the very emails you're trying to destroy.
Anyway, chain mails are far less concerning than security threats such as viruses, trojans and spyware. It amazes me how many people have infected their PCs, and to such a great degree. It is quite incredible what people will click on.
This is a Mike Oldfield community. Chain mails are the least of our concerns. The truth hurts, but honesty is the best policy.
