At the concert I went to in Rotterdam, 1999, at the encore I ran to the stage and he was standing 3 metres away from me, I guess...
I think I remember that he also saw me and smiled, but that might be my memory misleading me

So, Korkesova, it's no real meeting, but good enough for me!

Clear that it would be well, but... this it would have to organize the administrators of tubular.net, because we cannot do nothing
if they are animated... :p

He had the chance to chat with some of us here in 2002 and 2003 at BBC Radio 2 Johnnie Walker's show, that was great!

I wish one day to see him playing live, and if there's a chance to talk to him in person, that would be ab fab  ;)

Yes, we'd be happy to do it. If Mike felt the same, we'd have done it years ago. He doesn't.

The last time he joined an online MVR game was October 2004, I think (and so many people crowded into the game - a record of sorts, I suppose - that my internet connection couldn't cope, so all manner of mayhem occurred). I reported the ensuing conversation somewhere on these boards ... lord knows where though! It was pretty profound.

The mvr folk would love it if he joined in now and then, but.... well, it's been a long gap! Fanny's dropped in once or twice since Mike's last visit, but even so it's been a long time.

So then this can be called an unfriendly non-encounter with mike ?!?!  :/

I think he should do a little more for his fans every now and then!  :)

If he doesn't I'll send the piltdownMAN (my dad) to him and force him to do a chat   ;) He'll be very afraid ;) of all this howling and screaming!

Piltdownboy yes I could join your Dad, and shout and scream at Mike until he agrees to do a chat , afterall my frustrated alter ego is Piltdownwoman, but I don't think shouting and screaming at Mike, will force him to change his mind.

:O

Ok, so if we're gonna chat to him, the great man himself....

... what are we gonna talk about?

I've thought about this before, you know if I just happened along in the street, and saw him, I'd be like: "Hi Mike." and he'd go "Hey." I suppose. Then maybe... "You know who I am?" and I say, "Yeah, I own nearly every album you've made..."

What do we actually say? other than that I am a great fan, what discussion can you have with someone that leads such a personal and private life?

Mike: Hi.
Alan: Hi. Do you associate your music with any philosophical standpoint in any way?  I mean, when you compose do you adopt the notion that there is an Absolute, and draw inspiration from that? Or do you see reality as an ever-changing relativistic flux which just happens to come together here and now, leading your fingers to make the adjustments and 'sculpt the sound', as you put it in a recent interview?
Mike: Not really.
Alan: When you speak of 'sculpting the sound', how do you envisage the medium? Are you sculpting a vacuum? the air? some kind of imagined spiritual medium? Could the creation of Music VR be said to represent a virtual visual parallel to this sculpting process?
Mike: Yes, perhaps. I don't really know.
Alan: I'm sorry, I'm all out of pretentious questions now.
Mike: OK let's go down the pub. Are you buying?

If a friendly chat isn't possible, I fully defend the idea of an unfriendly chat. We could provoke him calling him all sorts of names, see if he'd join in and exchange insults with us before turning the whole thing into a silly laugh-out-loud party. Could work...
