We've all said weird and wonderful things.  What things have you heard on interviews? Or what lyrics or funny things have you said in relation to the Oldfield's music?

Years back, my freind and I were talking about Tubular Bells 3.
What I meant to say, was , 'I don't really like THAT version.'
Instead I accidently said, 'I don't really like THAT VIRGIN.'
Obviously I was thinking of the record label etc etc, and I can't really type what my freind said in reply to what I said, but we were laughing for ages!

When I was a toddler, I thought "Mike Oldfield" was "My-gold-field" as if my dad owned a field full of wheat, and that was where the music we listened to was made.

To this day I still enivisage the TBii cover as a big golden field with a purple and navy sky.

Bless your heart!

Few years back I heard this interview with Sally Oldfield, on BBC Radio Newcastle. She was talking about her 'light' expereince. Bless, and she said something like, "It just took off. If you can imagine the sun suddenly, EXPLODING... and I just fell to my knees...and it began to form itself into words."
Obviously her fans would've understood what she was on about, but the interviewer said to her, "some people would think you are a fruit cake talking like this."

Bless It kind of shows that some people just don't understand or believe in spirituality, which this poor woman was trying to articulate.

Somewhere on this forum I read about a hungarian (!) Mike Oldfield cover band called "My Goldfield"!

Yeah, they had some gigs between 2000 and 2003. At the time, the whole Hungarian Mike Oldfield Fan Club went out to watch their gigs. :) They played live mostly popular Mike Oldfield tracks, namely Moonlight Shadow, To France, Innocent, Shadow on the Wall (with woman vocals) and they even played Mistake once. A popular Hungarian humorist, Zoltán Maksa sat behind the drums. He made also two solo albums in Jarre's style, he got mixed response, but I like them. You can listen into them here.

Here's a small picture of My Goldfield.

Thanks for the info! I find it really odd that there's a hungarian Mike Oldfield tribute band. And that they played "Mistake"! It's the great overlooked Mike Oldfield single.

It's not that surprising, really. Fugato is also a Hungarian band who has a Mike Oldfield medley. In fact, there are many great Hungarian musicians (I could mention Solaris and Laren d'Or here). :) Errm... I think I'm way too off topic now, so we'd better get back to the thread. :)
