How many of you have heard anything by Gandalf, the Austrian multi-instrumentalist?

If you wish to find out more go to here.

I have followed his music for 15 years now, ever since I heard his wonderful album 'From Source to Sea'. Trust me, if you enjoy Mike's music you'll love the music of Gandalf too. Steve Hackett has worked with him on 'Gallery of Dreams' and I have recently invested in two of his more recent releases 'Visions 2001' and 'Colour of a New Dawn' - fabulous albums!!  :D

Reviews of some of his albums can be found on the Progressive Rock/Symphonic Rock and Synthesizer/Electronic/New Age links of this reliable source.

I hope many of you will find this a worthy and worthwhile new discovery!

Cheers,

Mart

yes gandalf does have something special. it is new age but it is more than that and does feature many interesting melodies. I first heard of Gandalf on the old MO.com forum and a friend of mine who has an enourmous collection of cds and lps had some of his albums. I now own the compilation "between earth and sky" (which is quite good) and "into the light" which I very much enjoyed (however the cover, like most of his older covers is quite ugly). unfortunately it is hard to find information about him (especially because of his name) and i guess there is no proper fanpage, is there? Well I hope to get further into his music, unfortunately he had made lots and lots of albums and i have no orietation which one to get next ...

The only reliable internet sources I have found so far are in the links I provided on my first post.

When it comes to recommendations, again, I mentioned four albums in my first post which I'm sure you will like, if you're familiar with his style. Another very good album which I have is 'Stones of Wisdom' - a more celtic influence on this album than others mentioned but nonetheless comparable with some of MOs output.  :D
