I agree about those songs, I remember playing my Mum's 45's of them as a kid/teenager.  I know he helped the Rolling Stones break into the US market, my Dad 1944-2005 was a Stones fan since 1963, passed this on to his daughter.

One of the residents of the care home where I recently started  working passed away this morning aged 88,  I'd known her just over a month, I hoped that I made her last few weeks as bearable as I could, she was in pain.

Gene Pitney and Peggy RIP.

I'm sorry to say that I never heard of him before this AM, too.

Gene Pitney was a great US songwriter and also singer.

- Gene Pitney on Wikipedia

- Gene Pitney artist page on VH1

- The Gene Pitney Music Vault

At 65, he was still actively working on the music bussines. Indeed, he was touring in Wales when it happened.

Sad news.

God Bless Gene Pitney, both my brother and I grew up with listening to his albums as he was a massive favourite of our mums.  At least he went peacefully, and just after doing a concert which is what he loved best, perfoming :-)

Sue x
