Dammit.  Dammit.

The second I saw the topic title I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.  Paid no attention to the news today-so here's where I saw it.  Serves me right.  Dammit.

I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live here in town back in the early 80's (I think).  Was at the Winnipeg Concert Hall.  My mom took me.  How's that for progressive parenting?  She knew I loved his work, and she enjoyed it, too.

Dammit.

Well I did`nt think I was aware of George Carlin sadly but it`s just been pointed out to me on another forum that he appeared in the Bill & Ted movies. So the penny kind of dropped for me there a little bit. He`s also been cited as a big influence on the great Bill Hicks over on that forum as well.Which is no bad thing in itself I guess.Anyway that "saving the planet" routine was hilarious, great stuff!

I remember listening to George Carlin's album "Class Clown" when I was a teen. It was in my brother's record collection and I recall laughing hysterically over it. One part that stands out in my memory is "Seven Words You Can't Say On Television" (you can hear this routine on YouTube *CONTAINS PROFANITY*). I think it's easy to take him for granted, but I believe he was an important voice against censorship.
