America has made 2 films on global warming, that I'm aware of. One by Al Gore and one by Leonardo DiCaprio(not as good). But the best I've seen I saw today. "The Age Of Stupid". Looks like it was made in England with a guy Pete Postelethwaite(sp?-I saw him in Alien 3 and Jurrasic Park 2) narrating and manipulating a clear screen computer in 2055 from an archive of human history. This was the best "Get your ass ready for the harm you've done" film yet. I've noticed the UK seems more keen on climate change than the USA. In the film, we(USA) are so fat, yes we are. Eat enough in one person per day to feed 20 others in places where food is scarce. I'd rather address this than a re-issue of an old album. If I had all encompassing power of all humans on Earth, or Terra(I prefer), I would outlaw NASCAR racing. This would piss off a lot of rednecks, but I enjoy pissing off rednecks. I'd make 1000 other cuts very quickly. I'll reveal them as this thread evolves. Great movie. Gimme feedback. Gotta save ourselves is the ultimate truth.
Jim

Sounds to me like the alarmists and 'jobsworths' being very vocal there, and probably not reflective of British public opinion. Global Warming is generally considered a scam by many, and a means for politicians to con us out of green taxes.

Just as much as denying global warming is a means for corporations to keep their profits riding high.

There are very few people who benefit very much on both extreme ends of the problem. The real solution must be somewhere around the middle.

Looking forward to more from "Life According to Jim." Have you ever thought of going into politics Jim? It only takes 1 person to get the domino effect happening! Get those ideas out there!

Talking of Richard (on Hergest Ridge thread) - he was interviewed on Radio2 tonight - promoting his new "Virgin Bank!"

Anyhow, asked what would be his biggest concerns if he happened to be the head of the United Nations, he said: - 1.conflict - 2.disease - 3.global warming

Aww - sweet.  :)

I most certainly hope you are joking there, Jim. Outlawing NASCAR (or anything else) is not the solution. I'm so sick of the liberal mindset: the solution for everything is ban this, tax that, spend a 100 billion freaking dollars that don't even exist... I am not a redneck, and I do believe that something's gotta give, but more regulation is not what we need. I'm sure I just pissed off just about everybody on this forum, but oh well. Over and out for now.

The reason why a lot of people are skeptical about global warming is that the hypothesis "human beings are responsible for g.w." is not a falsifiable one, in the sense of philosopher Karl Popper: this means you can't devise an experiment that would prove the hypothesis wrong (the way you can prove wrong, for example, the hypothesis "All swans are white"). My own view is that we should act as though the hypothesis is true, just in case!, but the skeptics do have a methodological point.

No Syd, if anyone pissed them off, I did. We can bury our heads under a blanket of shite(I finally figured out what shite is)until we suffocate, or try to get out from under it. Burning millions of gallons of fuel for entertainment is stooopid. Right now might not be the best time for this, with Haiti and all......so I'm going to shut up.

Hi Jim,

you're absolutely right with this! And I know all the unappreciative reactions you get when you speak out something like that.  :/

I actually agree. I just don't think banning it is a good solution. And for the record I think watching a bunch of cars go round and round a loop is extremely boring.
Also, in my last post when I said "I'm so sick of the liberal mindset", I really should have said "extreme liberal" mindset. I agree with some environmentalists, and also I think it's great when people volunteer (as long as it's actually voluntary) and donate to just causes (again, if it's actually voluntary). In particular, if anybody here has the means, seriously consider donating to Haiti. As you all know, the situation there is horrible.
And in closing, I'm not into the extreme conservative philosophy either. I'm actually a libertarian, which is a little of both (free minds and free markets).
