The Kate Bush song can be heard various places such as this youtube video. It plays over the ending credits of the film. As with the film, I personally find it a bit disappointing  :/

Aerial's kinda nice in it's own way-which is true of all KB's albums.  It's more like a "book and a cup of coffee on a quiet afternoon"  sort of album.  Perhaps too introspective for some (including me sometimes)...

Slight t/j:  Any other KB fans out there pissed off that the total time on both Aerial discs is only a half-minute longer that a single disc capacity?

I thought Aerial was a great album, one of Kate`s best.I can see where you`re coming from with the disc times but I think that was more down to the way Kate`s Sky Of Honey disc panned out.Besides which I can`t remember having to pay double the money for it so it was still good value I thought. It is kind of introspective yes I suppose you`re right.A lot of the subject matter, metaphors ambiguent or otherwise come accross as very personal a lot of the time. That said I still found myself making a lot of emotional connections with them. And some of the music alone was quite breathtaking anyway.

It`s not very often Kate gives new songs away to soundtrack albums so I was a little intigued to hear that Lyra song when it came out. It`s more reminscent of something that might of appeared on Sensual World or Red Shoes to me,but it`s still quite a nice little song.I enjoyed the soundtrack album it came from as well.I`m probablly way off here but I`m guessing Kate maybe agreed/wanted to do a song for the film from being familiar with the book. She`s always been a great one for wanting to make songs out of other peoples litrature hasn`t she.

I still have`nt seen the film yet myself.Although people I know who have read the book and then seen the movie were a little bit dissapointed by it.That said it`s got Nicole Kidman in it and a giant talking polar bear so it can`t be all bad.

I've read reviews for Aerial here and there and they were pretty much positive, which pleased me no end as a big KB fan.  The reviews that were not quite so supportive pointed out the gap between her releases, and how motherhood and bereavement made the songs more inaccessable.  I, for one, don't have any problem whatsoever with how long she takes to create her albums because they are all so packed with detail and subtlety that they always reward repeated playings, no matter how old they get.  Aerial delivers that in spades.  Plus, the sonics are outstanding!

Happy to know there are other KB fans here.

I thought Aerial had some great moments in it as well. Anyone who can make a pop song out of PI has to be given a fair bit of credit! While I didn't like every moment of the album it has enough in it that I do love (Somewhere in between... a highlight for me) that I would recommed it as well.

and Sam Elliot, Dakota Blue Richards doing a great job in her first role, Oscar winning effects etc. etc. Trouble is it doesn't add up to an overall great experience as many who love the books had hoped. Still worth watching however.

Holy crap, it's funny you should say that.  Just a few months ago I overdosed on "Ariel" in just the way you're intending to do.  I had it in the car non-stop and for one reason or another I had to do a lot of driving at night.  It wove such a spell that it didn't remain as simple music-in-a-car... the music BECAME the environment in which I drove.  There was something perfectly transcendental about that week.

BTW, "The Red Shoes"... perfectly good album.  Fun, and lots of variety.  My only reservation would be the sonics.  I find it more hissy than it should be.  Maybe from the mastering.  Strange, considering my CD is a UK original pressing, not one of those awful US dubs created from a 2nd generation safety copy of the master tape.  Seriously.  The US version of "Lionheart" would make you puke.  I did.

If you meant "not good", you're too right.  Wouldn't even know where to begin criticizing it.  Meh.
