I first heard the Gorillaz on their self titled 2001 album, assuming it was their first. It included great songs such as 'Clint Eastwood' and '19-2000'. Very funky. I also liked the animated characters in their videos. I bought 'Demon Days' on Friday and I can't stop listening to it, it includes songs such as 'Dirty Harry' which is perhaps a kind of sequel but the first single 'Feel Good Inc' is the only track in my opinion that resembles anything from the first album. The rest of it is unusual, creative and very unique, I esp like 'All Alone' and 'Fire coming out of the monkeys head'. Am dying to hear what anyone else thinks of this album.

hm... i like the music video "feel good inc". I think its very good  :)  I love that part when he plays the guitar in the part of landskape in the clouds. This video makes me think how good it is to be free. To be out from small demons that we are struggling with every day. Its not easy to be a human today and life takes a very hard piece from us, everybody. There are many demons that hit us in the heart and face. Thats why i think this video gives a very good picture about how good it is to be on a other place and not behind doors that stop us from to feel good.

Windmill, Windmill for the land.
Learn forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is sticking, falling down
Love forever love is free
Let's turn forever you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?

Thanks Tubularman,

For just $2 more I got the cd with the dvd included and a booklet with all the words to the songs on it. He's a clever musician I think and when you get artists from different backgrounds or ethnicities working together the result is a more eclectic, unusual and original style.

Gorillaz is a side project for Damon Albarn of Blur with his cartoon pals 'Murdoch' - bass player, ladies man, bully boy, jail bird, 'Russel' - drummer, Hip Hop Hard Man, '2D' - singer, halfwit, pretty boy and 'Noodles' - jnr martial arts expert & visionary (created by Jamie Hewlett of Tank Girl fame). "4 people on one mission, to save the world from manufactured pop". And the album features guest artists such as De La Soul on Feel Good Inc, Ike Turner, Shaun Ryder (who?), Ninah Cherry and Dennis Hopper.

The dvd shows the full clip to 'Feel good inc' and when you leave it sitting in the player on the menu setting, you have a graphic of the four cartoon characters, and every now and then one of them makes comments like, 'Oh Russel, you filthy pig, did you cut the cheese?!',  'Time out man, I'm getting hungry, let's go eat', 'I'm gonna have to put another quid in the meter in a minute', 'This joker better hurry up, I've got an app at the hairdressers in half an hour', 'If we move really slowly, I bet we can get out of here', 'I bet Keith Richards doesn't have to do this', very amusing. Great album, anyone else had a listen to it?

Tracy

I feel that Gorillaz have something special. I really didnt know that Damon was the singer and the man in the background. But his good. The others to.
I really like the cartoon style. Cool style and orginal.

to add picture like the way i did. You must find a link to your picture and add it to http:// right above your text (when your writing) then your must add it again. Hope your understand it, or then someone else could explain it for you. Im not superman in english, so its a little difficult to explain. But quick and easy; use your link to picture in the http:// accsess key.

Thanks, not sure I understand and it's bedtime for me so will give it a try in the morning when I am fresh.

Yeh I was surprised to read the lead singer was the guy from Blur, not the singer of that group tho which is Jarvis Cocker, and I could not find the names or any reference to the other members, assuming there is three others who possess the cartoon counterparts. The review I read about the album described it as not as good as the original and 'wierd' but I like wierd.

Catch ya later,
Tracy.

ouh... your are from australia?? he he.. i thought it was a bit early. But when you are from australia its not..  :p  Im from norway so the time is almost just like england. (only one hour)
So the night here is more late then yours he he

For the first time i have heard the hole album Demon days. My first impression is that this is a intense corrosive album that dig a hole in your head. This album have the extra im looking for in music. The very first beginning in the album Intro gives a mood what this is about. For some reason it remain me about mikes song "trap". Not the same but the same sound. A little scary...
"last living soul" must be my second favorite! I love the start, very plain with simple sounds. And the text must be fantastic! Almost only a line with the last living soul. I like the way they repeat the reverse. Very relaxing good song.
"kids with guns", i must say that this is a "song" that i think have a deep meaning. the short word tell you alot. This song gives me many pictures in my head about what we have seen on television.
"O green world" gives me a hint of Blur i feel. example; the reverse. Here i can hear that this is Damon.
"Dare" is very special too i think. A funny new way song.
its comming up, its comming up, its comming up......its there!

Strange that its diffucult to find out who Gorillaz is. I find it difficult too. its not easy to find it out on internet. They like to hide behind there scene and mask (cartoons)
They do it just like what pink floyd did with the wall concert. Pink Floyd builded a big wall on the scene, and behind the scene there the floyd group was. Far from fans and faces. Only pictures and art. A good way i think. Its orginal!

have you seen theyr web site. really cool one i think!

have a good night Tubularbelle. Now i have to go asleep by my self. Its very late. Almost morning....

See you
