message posted at myspace. A nice mix of your usual excellent guitar with some good production and an excellent "Journey".

Bordering on to Lemon Jelly territory, which I happen to think is very good.

This music is beautiful !!

I have listened to all the tracks and yes, Great Western feels like music score for an 'On The Road' movie, ie. Thelma and Louise.

When I hear the words Great Western I think of "Castle" and "King" Class locomotives see here

<a href="http://">http://www.greatwestern.org.uk/m_in_cas.htm</a>
<a href="http://">http://www.greatwestern.org.uk/m_in_kin.htm</a>
or a little "1400 Class tank engine on  branch line <a href="http://">http://www.greatwestern.org.uk/m_in_042.htm</a>.

I think for me this track so perfectly sums up a steam locomotive working hard, the romance, and that lovely smell of steam      :)  :D

Incidentally there is a sort of  connection between the GWR and Mike.  MIke lived at The Beacon, which is in Kington , and GWR 14xx Class, No 1420 spent most of her working life in Kington, she is now preserved on the South Devon Railway

Sad aren't I???  :/ , no I just love things with engines  <a href="http://">http://www.southdevonrailway.org/1420.html </a>

Thankyou so much for all your feedback and kind comments

I didn't intend it to sound like a train JOurney (honest) Its just the way it evolved. Even the title bears no relation. I have been reading about Brunel and thought it would be a good title. It all came about by coincidence but perhaps it was meant to be. :)

Funny you should mention steam as I love the traction engine rallies and try to go to as many as I can each year. I have a few Fred Dibnah DVDs too as he is another hero of mine. So sad we lost him.

I've gone all star struck now you've come on the thread, this music is pretty special, I particularly like 'Deserted', it has the early U2 guitar feel about it. If this was cd in the shops I'd buy it tomorrow.     :)

Tayniee, you have just made my day/night :)

As it happens I am working on putting a cd out through a very influential guy in the music buisness who spotted me. He knows of  good distributer in L.A who can sell through many online stores. I need to sort out the tracks and get the artwork sorted before June. I am working on a minimal/slow version of Great Western too as it works  from the second section.

Oh yes the smell of steam , love it   .   Oh yes I agree about Fred Dibnah, I think there's something about British Engineering (only the Germans can match it IMHO).  Britain needs more engineers to make it truly great again.  It's just a pity that engineers have a image problem of being geeky.   I know if I was any good at engineering I'd make engineering sexy     .
Fred could make what many especally  women consider a boring subject most interesting, oh yes he was certainally a character  :) .
I guess i'm a bit of a blokey type of girl in that I love things with an engine POWEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Hello Ian!

Been offline for quite some time and happy to see you posted some new music.   Love the new tune and the imagery it creates.  Funny how many Mike Oldfield fans are also train buffs!  Model trains are my "other" hobby.

Get your CD out and I'll buy it!

Mike

I've never been into trains as a kid. I remember going to York Train museum with the cubs and was bored. Didn't want a train set or anything but as I get older (yes, I know) I am starting to get interested in our past. I can see why folk are so interested in it all. Also, its harping back to the past when Britain had an identiy, people had respect for themselves and each other, law and order was much better etc.

Train sets and Scalextric were much more exciting than dolls, I could play with dolls for so long but then they became boring :p , I ended up hassling my parents for a train set   .

I know History was the most interesting subject in school, yes I agree that we seem to have lost respect for each other and ourselves individually , collectively speaking if that makes sense.   I agree law and order has got ridiculous, it now seems to be about the criminals rights rather than the victims.   I agree there's some stupid prosecutions being made, such as  a 15 year old boy being prosecuted for holding a "Scientology is a Cult" placard, as some may consider it offensive, whatever happened to free speech???       :O .

Yes I agree that the image of English football hooligans abroad doesn't make us popular in foreign lands, but it's up to the police forces around the world to root out the troublemakers.

Wasn't there an "I'm Backing Britain" campaign in the 60's, maybe it would be possible to do another one, except the goods would be produced by migrant labour, not that this traitorous  government would back Britain.
I don't blame the migrant workers for seeking a better quality of life , but I do think greedy employers  are exploiting them, as they are willing to accept a lower rate of pay than a Brit.
