We've got Mike again in the greatest guitarist Poll - he's never won in previous years but you never know.... Maybe we should have a category for finger picking electric guitarists (mind you, Mark Knofler would probably win it).  Everyone seems to go for these manic shredding/sweeping blokes, all technique but little musical interest.

And yes I know this is all pointless but it's just a bit of fun!

Good to see Paul Giblet and Brain May on there too, although if Mike's name hadn't been there I'd have probably plumped for Marty Feldman.....

:)

...and nothing was ever heard from him again, except for the sound of Chew-bew-lar Bells.

My votes in for Mike..what did you put for reason for picking.

One of the best and most underrated guitarists to come out of England who has a unique sound and style.

But tell me how can they leave the rock god that is George Formby out  :D

TBH I do love the old George Formby films but don't tell anyone  :D  :D

It really is quit useless to vote in such polls.

Somewhere, some day, some one will cheat and vote multiple times,  making such polls (where everyone can include their vote) irrelevant for persons like us who don't cheat.

I sure hope that Mike realises what joy he brings to us !

It says on the site: The Poll officially opens on June 1st 2007 and closes on 1st December 2007.  The results will be announced in a special ceremony on Saturday 21st December in New York, where we hope to invite the winner and maybe some of the runners up to a special thank-you concert.

well I did say it was just a bit of fun.  I loved the George Formby and Marty Feldman entries here, great stuff.  There will be a genuine result though.  For me personally Mike is just in a different genre of his own in guitar playing. He is a joy to watch.

Good greif a poll that leaves Jimi Hendrix out :O , but I guess if he were in that he would win, Hendrix is good, but I do personally  think he's overrated, much of his style seemed a bit gimmicky to me.
Yes I'd vote for Mike for the reason he's vastly underrated as a guitarist. Mike and Brian May, (spelt "Brain" on the poll, I know Brian has a Phd in Physics and is a Doctor of Astronomy)
:) are my greatest guitarists of all time, closely followed by Dave Gilmour, wonder why he's missing from the poll, most strange   :/ .

Had to laugh at some of the smelling p**stakes (spelling mistakes) on there. I'm getting my wucking ferds muddled   .

This year only living guitarists were included.  Although can anyone spot the deliberate error (in this regard as opposed to the silly spellings)
