Please help!

I recently bought a Epiphone SG Junior for a good price but there is an intermitant crackle in the sound when the tone knob is turned up. The crackle goes away when you hold the metal part at the top of the lead, which make me believe there is aloose connection somewhere (un-earthed?). I opened it up and gave it a good clean in the electronics with contact cleaner but I cant really see anything loose, though I would be able to fix anything with a soldering iron.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm...
       Hard to say exactly, but pots are known to fail on even the best of instruments and sometimes contact cleaner will make the problem worse. Be sure to use a contact cleaner with a lubricant in it!
It could be that the pot is grubby or the wiper has just failed.
Also check for dry joints on the soldering.
Does your guitar have the Epi P-90 Pickup?

Yeah, its got a P90. Im really pleased with it, and I think I know what the problem is. There was loose solder connection at the input jack which completley came away when I tugged at it a little. Im just gonna resolder it.

No Problem..
            Just by chance I scored a new Gibbo Junior the other day. It's funny I did not expect too much but the new one does recapture the spirit of my old 65 one quite well..
