I have two questions below:-

When did Mike Oldfield start using his effects rig?

Did Mike Oldfield use any other fuzz boxes other than the following?
:-

-Glorfindal Box
-Roland GP-8
-Roland VG8
-TEAC tape recorder
-VOX minamp

When he started playing electric guitar.

Probably, but it's not been documented. He used a level boosting preamp to drive his Mesa/Boogie further into overdrive for his 80s performances, you could count that.
