I wonder if you people ever have been in the Hard Rock café in London (um, yeah, I guess you did)? :D

But I went there once on vacation, and they always have instruments or other objects of famous musicians hanging on the walls. Well, there were these face masks that were painted by famous people, and one was done by Mike!

I never mentioned this before on the forums. It just popped into my mind right now! I was there in London a few years ago.

Yes, I have seen that too. :D The same year I was there.

My hand is almost as big as Mike, though he has a longer pink. ;)

I went on both places, not on my Mike Oldfield fan mode.
Next time I have the chance to go on both places I´ll check it!

As far as I know,Mike used to have some fun with painting in the past.

Do you remember about about that mask, and if there´s any hint @ HRC about this?

Oh yes! You'll see the masks displayed on the wall behind the bar (if they haven't changed the lay-out of the café since then that is).

Below the masks are the names of the artists who painted it. If I remember correctly, Mike did not paint the whole mask, just some green, red, white and (maybe) yellow lines.

I wish that kind of thing didn't hang around on a wall in a Hard Rock Café but was played by someone who can actually create something with it.

You need Silverlight from Microsoft to view it but you can zoom in to incredible detail.

Hi David,

thanks a lot for sharing.

Interesting to see it has seen quite some heavy use:

"I'm very careful about the Zemaitis. I don't drop it or anything, because it was built just the way I wanted it, as far as color and inlays."

Mike Oldfield: A Rare Interview With The English Guitarist, Studio Wizard, and Composer of "Tubular Bells", 1978, Guitar Player

:/

And now I can see what MGO acoustics means: Michael Gordon Oldfield, handcrafted by Tony Zemaitis himself!
