Greetings Oldfield fans. I have been a fan since about 1980 (yep gettin on a bit) and have managed to see mike live a couple of times. Great memories. However, having called the oldfield info line (ahem) still dated Nov 04 and nowt new on the website, I assumed that Mike had sunk into a post TB2003 depression. Was not aware that a new album was on the way although by his prolific standards one is well overdue.

Personally I hope that Mike does not work around a particular theme and just lets rip (as per amarok). His work always seems to suffer slightly when he restricts his creativity just to fit around a concept (Millenium Bell a prime example, although there are a couple of decent tracks even so)

Anyway, time will tell re: new album, no doubt the music press will love it as usual !  Just hope Mike is able to leap off into new direction now that he has presumably exorcised the Demon of TBells.

cheers

Tres Lunacy

"What new album" is, I'm afraid, a very good question...

But every time a new "Exorcist" film release comes out, they play "Tubular Bells" in the advertising campaign. "Tubular Bells" has become the "Official Song of Satan" on the radio, and gets played a lot also during Hallowe'en.

This is one demon that is not being exorcised.

Thank goodness! We need all the commercial play time we can get, so we can aquire more Oldfieldians to discuss things like the composition of weak lemon tea and the polarity of mint.

Has Mike stated exactly where he stands on these important issues? Don't we need to know before the new album is out?
