I have been listening to Crises again recently and realised that if I were to list my favourite tracks in order now it would be quite a different order from when I first heard it.

When I first heard it, my order of preference was (I think) something like this, favourites 1st:

1) Moonlight Shadow
2) Foreign Affair
3) Crises
4) Shadow on the wall
5) Taurus III
6) In high places

When I listen to it now my favourites are more like this:

1) Crises
2) In high places
3) Moonlight Shadow
4) Foreign Affair
5) Shadow on the wall
6) Taurus III

My views on some of the tracks (in high places particularly) seem to have changed with the years.

So, this topic not for Crises in particular but have your views on favourite tracks changed with time?

With TB, HR and O I originally preferred part One over Two.
These days I'm more drawn towards part Two esp Ommadawn..

I didn't used to be keen on Incantations part 2, particularly the Hiawatha song - couldn't wait for it to end. But over time I have warmed to it and now it's on a par with part 1, 3 and 4.

Hmm... actually not much at all for me. My "order" of albums is pretty much the same as ten years ago strangely enough.

From my posts of late, it's obvious I've lost a lot of enthusiasm in Mike's music, not due to just simple replicative fade, but his attempt to re-sell his whole catalog(eventually) thru "remix/remasters". He won't be dismissed by any means, I've gotten "fade" from many others, Doors, Steely Dan, so many others American and British. Old age(you try being 50) does that. But the Hiawatha part mentioned prior......this is one MO piece I keep coming back to just as much as The Inner Child. It is mesmeric beyond belief. One of my jimboard top tens......

MoTS was a grower. At first I prefered the main "Harbinger" themes. Now I hear the album more as a whole. "The Tempest" used to be way down the list - now it's at the top.

Revised -

1 The Tempest
2 Musica Universalis
3 Aurora
4 Silhouette
5 Prophesy
6 Harmonia Mundi
7 Shabda
8 Empyrean
9 On My Heart (reprise)
10 On My Heart
11 The Other Side
12 Animus
13 Harbinger
14 Harbinger (reprise)

Previously -

1 Musica Universalis
2 Silhouette
3 Harbinger
4 Harbinger (reprise)
5 On My Heart
6 On My Heart (reprise)
7 Prophesy
8 Harmonia Mundi
9 The Tempest
10 Aurora
11 Shabda
12 Empyrean
13 Animus
14 The Other Side

I used to think that Poison Arrow was a standout track from Discovery when the album came out (I was 12). Now I think it's so-so and propably next last (Saved by a Bell is by far the worst).

When I first heard QE2 I was quite fond of Conflict, a track that I now skip everytime I listen to the album. I think it's too overwrought and busy. It used to be my #2 fac on the album, now it's down there with the cover versions.

But for the most part my first impressions of the albums seem to last.
When I first heard Earth Moving I only really noticed Innocent and Holy. I still rank Innocent as the best track, but closely followed by Bridge to Paradise and See the Light. And those two songs left no impression at all to begin with.

When I bought TSODE I was decidedly unimpressed by the whole album. It was a case of  Let There Be Light and not a great deal else. However since joining the forum I gave it another chance and.... I really love it now, particularly "Only Time" "Chamber/Hibernaculum" "Magellan" and of course the "Intro/LTBL" A complete U turn in my affections. Should the day arise when I don't love Argieres or Wonderful Land, then its time to tag my toe...
