Hi
Just wondered if any of you will be near Hitchin on the evening of Sunday 20th July. The band I play in is doing a 40 minute set at The Ivory in Hitchin that evening and it would be great to meet up with anyone from the forum that lives in that part of the world.

I think it is an acoustic evening with a number of local bands playing short sets.

If you are interested, let me know and I'll provide more details.

Afraid not - but would like to  :)

Live in Australia at the moment (hence the forum name - our capital for those of you who think it's Sydney    )

Hope to move to the UK for a couple of years in about 3 years' time.

Sydney? Canberra? Oh yes, they're a couple of obscure towns you pass when you're travelling between WA and Queensland!

Wish I were able to be there, clotty! As a Second Lifer, do you think your band might do a SL gig at some point in time?

I'm about 15 miles away, if I'm here then, I might be going to Warwickshire next weekend,  (postponed from this one, as my boyfriend was unwell, but it's a male pride thing he doesn't like me looking after him probably some male pride thing, as he thinks of the man as protector< still maybe he's right and it's better when we can enjoy each others company) unless my boyfriend comes down here, and I can find someone to go with as I don't like sitting in pubs by myself, also depends upon how  much I have to pay out in bills.

trcanberra and inkanta, well to be honest I wasn't really expecting anyone to fly in from the other side of the world to see our humble and short acoustic set. :) Though inkanta, after the journey you did to Bilbao to see 45 mintes of Mr Oldfield from behind a pillar, I could believe anything!!

Yanouch, always a dilemma about the bass. Probably not on this occasion, though I'll decide once I know exactly which songs we're going to play. You'll be pleased to know that it does get played though and i did play it at a Wedding gig last year. What a come down for it - from Montreux to a function room in North West London. :/

moonchildhippy, if you do make it, I'm easy to spot - if you see a miserable looking bald bloke with a bass guitar round his neck trying desperately to play the right notes occasionally, that'll be me.  :)

A gig in second life - I have no idea how to do that and would the virtual world be ready for us I wonder. Also only two of us have SL ids at the moment and the lead guitarist, much to my surprise, is a giant squirrel.

Btw, back in the real world, I'm told the gig is free and we are playing around 9pm.

Hehe! Well, if I hadn't just switched jobs and had some holiday time, I'd have been tempted!  ;) It's SL--of course the virtual world would be ready for you, lol! The lead guitarist as a squirrel, eh? In SL anything is possible! We have furrie librarians, as well! Guess he'd just have to keep his tail away from the electricity, eh? If you want to know more about streaming real music into SL, Korg would be able to help, or Moog McMahon (a newer member of this very Board), or the resident musician on Renaissance Island, Thom Dowd. Moog's Subterranea might even be a possible venue. (-:

But, back to RL..... best wishes for an awesome gig! It will be great!

Galadriel--hope that you can get there! I know what you mean about sitting in pubs alone, though--I don't like to do that, either. I was happy when my daughters arrived last week so I finally have people to explore restaurants with. I don't even like dining out alone, though sometimes  I do.

It went really well thanks Inkanta. We were spotted by a record company, they liked us and signed us up for two years, so I'm handing in my notice at work this morning.

Well that was answer (a) in your multiple choice quiz. Here's answer (b)...

It went really well thanks Inkanta. We seemed to go down pretty well, had a great time and they've asked us back in about 8 weeks. We spent most of the day and evening playing guitar or listening to the other bands - not many better ways to spend a day imo.

I think you might need another really good reason to be in England at the same time, to make a trip to see us play for 40 minutes worth the bother. And preferably that other reason should involve your employer paying for the trip.

Now of course if I was going to sing again next time, then it would be a different mater. It would be well worth the trouble and expense, just for the laugh. But alas you missed that experience last time.
