Hello

As you know, a 2 CD set limited edition was out last month. This set includes the original version and the live version of the concert in Bilbao.

They say "limited edition". What does it means? How many copies do they make?

Thanks

Mr Y

It's common when you've got those "limited edition" CDs/DVDs a serial number as a proof of that limitedness of that edition...which didn't happen on MOTS case.

Another marketing ploy!I have actually got the 2 cd version now as a birthday present.I really like the live version. It sounds so much more 'real' somehow than the studio version.Dunno why.I still love it as a peice of music but there's more atmosphere to it live.Plus Mike sounds like he's doing a bit more.Another case of Mike doing a wee bit of improvising on a theme. Not that he's doing that much but it adds a little something.I wonder what's next?Do any of the people who were there know if it was filmed? The audience doesn't sound very big judging by the aplause at the end of it.

Yes, the whole concert was filmed. I was there with 30 other fans.

Here is a excerpt of it.

Yes, you are right.

By the way, listen to the live version of Harmonia Mundi at 3:03 and tell me wether it is a wrong note or not.

;)

So the next version to come out will be a triple CD with original version, live audio and live DVD versions?..

Has anybody noticed how this is becoming a record industry standard practice these days? I'm not saying this is necessarily the case with MO's MOTS, but many artists have albums out and then with what seems like indecent haste, a slightly improved version appears a few months later.

For example has anybody seen how many versions of the David Gilmour Live In Gdansk set there are? You see something appear - wait a few weeks - check it out as much as possible - decide the version you want (which is generally the most extensive) - and then a month or so later an even more super-duper version appears  :/

You can't win. And the record companies whinge on about Napster, piracy and downloading...

Yes you can. Simply download free versions from Usenet or torrents or whatever. Wait a few months to see whether you like it and if you do, buy. This is exactly what I did with MotS. Unlike all of Mike's other albums, with the exception of the first three, I never liked it enough to buy it.
