hi,
I've just bought on e-bay a promo cd "Music of the Spheres" and I received it yesterday.
I want to be sure that's not illegal copy (even if the seller says it is not !;)
I've heard about an application who can detect the illegal cd (you download this application on your computer and it reads the cd) but I don't know its name and where to download it.
Can anybody help me, please ?

I imagine it might be quite difficult to confirm it as legal. Probably only by knowing someone involved in the promo release who might be able to confirm which type of printer and CD press was used and therefore what to look out for. I would have thought the computer application you mention might only work for officially released CDs and wouldn't know about promo releases anyway. If it looks like an official copy then I imagine it is (not much demand for copies therefore not much point in a pirate bothering? ).

Someone on another thread mentioned that they possibly shouldn't be for resale anyway so asking UMG might produce a stuffy response!

Of course, if the cover sleeve says "epson" in watermark on the back and the CD label is a stick-on that might be a giveaway  :p

Anyone know any obvious signs of "well-done" pirate copies? Laser-printed rather than screen-printed cover maybe?
