the trap maybe... ha ha

Flowers of the forest is wonderful....
Dark Island too.

I think Voyager is a perfect and romantic album to play in weddings. Maybe beacuse of the romantic tunes, irsh feeling and the calm guitars and tunes..
But thats my taste  ;)

Hmmm....probably not "To be Free." :D If it were my wedding or handfasting, I'd play "Enigmatism" from Guitars mainly because I love it, and also because of the symbolism inherit it (well, it could be ascribed to it if you were really stretching), e.g., the counterpoint in which two separate themes are intertwined together, and the mysterious, egnimatic but beautiful territory between the yin and the yang. :D

Congratulations, btw!

For a similiar occasion someone proposed "Evacuation" :)

My suggestion is "Flying start"...

I'd got for The Smiths' "Please please please let me get what I want" and Björk's "All is full of love". I'm a bad fan. *spanks himself severely with a wet plimsoll*

If you can get the groom and several of his friends to sing an altered version of Flying Start, it'd be a blast! :D

We took our place in the sun
to see just what had become
the warm wind blows constantly
does the answer still blow, did you find your chateau
in that mediterranean fantasy

Flying Start made the whole world sing
     Break out in joy
Flying Start like a shining pearl, they
     Sang in one voice

To where the sun always shines
familiar faces and wines
the warm wind blows constantly
knock on the door but the memory's poor
will you marry me, now answer me
as the eyes of our parents shine
so you found your dream with a bottle of wine
I knew you had to do it your way, fine
but I hope you'll find another caterer this time

*Runs and hides to avoid getting pelted by rotten tomatoes*

I'd say, use the track of your nickname: Afghan!

It's an uplifting track, it sounds quite anthemic and big and it's not too long. It's perfect for it! :)

Or Wonderful Land would be suitable!
But still, I'd say Afghan!!

Daft answer : Foreign affair - might raise the odd eyebrow

Sensible Answer: (assuming you can walk slowly enough or if it is a fantastically long aisle) Supernova followed by Magellan (just as you reach the priesty type bloke at the front)

Very uplifting. Heard this played at a business conference at NEC once and nearly blew me away....fantastic

Hope wedding goes well whatever you choose

1. shotgun wedding by  Roy C.
2. heaven know's I'm miserable now by The Smith's.

Talking of wedding's, Elton changed the lyric's of his hit , I Wanna Kiss The Bride, when he was hitched last year to his long term male partner. yeah, it was changed to I Wanna Shag The Groom.

SUNSET (I can't stress how serious I am)

That track was just made for churches. Or gatherings.

also, Celtic rain.

Hostage?
Crises?
Only Time Will Tell?

Or you could take your Dad's advice and... Run Away, Son!

Seriously though... I think that, even though its not everyone's favourite MO album, Earth Moving's got some very appropriate sounding tracks for weddings... Far Country and Nothing But being the two that spring immediately to mind...

Have a brill day, Afghan! Hope the Heavens don't Open... and try not to become a Family Man too soon, eh?

Tony  :D

Far Country is beautiful but don't have it too loud or that joltingly loud bit a minute or so into it will give the olds a heart attack!

Family Man (not)

If you can get someone to master it properly, perhaps the slow guitarry section after the 'wall of 64 guitars' in Ommadawn part II. Maybe also Ascension from TSODE for afterwards.

-edit- by master, I mean fade in/out the guitars section. I also notice after listening to this section again that the section immediately following, the ullyean bagpipe (sp?) section, that this could also fit. Hmm, so many ample choices worth considering suggested here... deciding must be difficult  :/   ;)

Heaven's Open, for after the "you may now kiss the bride" bit. I like the Far Country suggestion as well.
