just look here , this is Blondie.
Why not Mike Oldfield?? Imagine a single box of mike?
There could be a serie of it or something..
Maybe a 70 single box, 80, and 90
Would you not buy that..?
Its much better than those best of cd's!!

I certainly wouldn't buy it? Why would you want one? You must have all these tracks already Tubularman, why spend your hard earned money on having Mike's stuff repackaged yet again, is the Platinum collection not ripping you off enough?

Burn them all the CD yourself and make your own box set, in all likeyhood you'd give it a better cover  :D

hmm dont think you get the idea..
A single box with all the singles into.
Not only on cd or like platinium collection.

There would be maybe 20 cd in one box.
Like single is and get them look like they was when they was released.

Maybe im a collection fan so i will have he he  ;)

What about all those 70's single tracks that did not appear on any album? We'd have a lot of tracks that are difficult to find finally available in CD format.

That said, I'd rather not have individual discs for each single, having to switch discs every eight minutes would be magnificiently annoying.

Yes, would be nice, but I'd rather then have it as new vinyl singles...
The Stones did a similair thing, though, as the Blondie example... and they made the cd's look like vinyl singles.
Would have been a nice idea, if there weren't already so many Mike compilation albums. With all those compilations it doesn't add anything to our collection.
I wouldn't agree with Toby, saying Platinum ripps you off, but I can understand why you say that.
Fact is (imho) that there has never been a compilation that could beat The Complete. That one was very very good.  :)

But how many tracks are there though from the 70's that haven't been released on CD. And Mike, rightfully I think, has distanced himself from his novelty 'I was pissed when I did this', 70's stuff. I know there are some interesting single remix versions of Ommadawn etc but I'd much rather see them on really well put together box set of INTERESTING rarities. Anyway the single remixes of a lot of Mike's later stuff especially off TB2 were pretty crappy anyway IMHO.

Unless they contain interesting rare material I'm afraid I just hate box sets. I mean I'm glad the Platinum collection is getting Mike some much needed publicity, not to mention some good reviews, but it still doesn't excuse the fact that its a pretty badly put together collection of his tunes, certainly from a fans point of view. I really don't see the point of encouraging more.

Well I kind of agree - but is such an old fart that I have all the singles from their first pressing  :/ .

Aha - to clarify - I am agreeing with Toby.  However - I also suspect there  is a whole pile of stuff not deemed to be passable to even those who are not cloth eared NCP's that has never been released.

I made some tunes - very amateur with a friend - we recently made our first CD as a bit of fun (Oh please  - let no one ever release it!!!!;)  but it was the process of making it that was interesting and fun - but the point is out of 12 tunes - we must have made about 30 different versions, then we decided which to put on the CD - even then I have remixed someafter we made a few copies of the CD - because we hear something we didnt like.

I bet 10 pairs of my old socks that Most Musicians have done the same - Mr Oldfield included.  so think about this - there are several version of all his albums lurking out there somewhere, and probably multiple versions of his singles.

Now, those unhear of ones we need. Let each make up his own mind which is his favorite version.  WOW.  That would be Cool.    Ray

No problem with distancing himself from that material, but I'd still like to have them. And although much material has been relesed on past collections, younger fans such as myself have not nescessarily had a chance to get their hands on The Complete or even the Elements Box. And also, for people like me it would be much better if I didn't need to hunt down and buy three different box sets, it would be preferrable to have just a complete one.

I realise that would be of little interest to old-timer fans.

Sure im happy with Platinium collection but when i discovered the single box from Blondie i thought.. "wow what a good idea"
I love sitting and change cd's and stuff so it would not be a problem for me"
Have this single box in the car can be a little problem ha ha..

To let the cd's look like vinyl single its quite exciting and if i had printer for it i would make my own single collection. But it would be extra fun if they released a box set.
This could be a big box, like shine box - pink floyd, not just a best of cd.

Hey Tubman - Shame we can't just make it ourselves and sell it and pass the profits on to Mr Oldfield directly . :/   Ray
