Hi I would like to know what other people think or expect & hope for from Mike in the future i.e. will he release another TB & if so when do fans expect that this might happen etc.

Note that if you read my first post on this forum in the meet & greet area in the topic "FORUM NAMES" you will then know why this topic is so close to my heart.

All the very best
I3ELLS end.

(SORT OF OFF TOPIC POSTING)
Oh well no replies :/ not even a Hi new member. Sorry if the subject of my first topic has not inspired anyone enough to put their finger(s) to button(s). Once upon a time this was a very active forum, now it seems to have loads of members but very few active & posting.

Or is it only that all that could ever be written has been discussed over & over again about Mr.MO? I do hope not! for this is why I have at long last finally joined up after years & years of reading what others had written, I thought maybe I could add a few topics that with a bit of luck will inject a few new thoughts & questions of my own that others might find interesting.

Or is the reason I have had no replies that my Topic is of no interest to anyone or that no one has an idea, hope, care or opinion of what might be to come? or that there are no members active? or is it just that most members are more interested in their own agenda, maybe the site has become more about fans own music & less about Mike Oldfield.

If this is the case then that is a shame as it used to be such a friendly & thought provoking site. So if no one has a interest in this or any other topics I create then I hope members will not mind if I just add my own thoughts to the wall here.

Sorry, I just had to do that

Not everyone is active at the same moment, so just give us time to react please. You should have been here when Mike played the Olympics. Then it was crowded and you would likely had gotten a reaction rightaway.

I'm one of those members who likes to draw attention to himself in the Fanmusic Zone, but I'm always in for a good discussion.

And now back to the original subject: I do not want a TB4 to be written for the fact that TB1 was his first but not his best, TB2 was nice and TB3 wasn't even good. So there you go...

(BACK ON TOPIC)
After my-our not receiving anyone else's thoughts to read & consider here are my bits of graffiti to add too the WALL

To me in my eyes Mike does appear to release his work on certain times or dates in order to mark anniversary of events in his life, so I think it is fair to say that I have come to see him in a light that shows him to be a very deep thinking person & this is why I fear that this May the 15th being his 60th Birthday (A VERY HAPPY ONE TO YOU MIKE! just in case you are in forum:-)  could seeing that it also converges with the 40th anniversary of the first chiming of Tubular Bells (0, 0X0 or 0I whatever I0I lol) it would to me seem to be good timing for the 4th chiming of the bell.

Hello & thanks for the welcome & the run down on the situation, Yes I suppose I have picked a time to join when not much is going on but over the thirteen or so years this site has been up & running (A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL ! who created & developed it & keep it running, it is a real gem & to my mind one of the best sources of information on all things Mr. M  ;)  :O h where did that c :( me fr  m ;=) I have been an active reader of what gets discussed on here & found it to be a very interesting & friendly site on almost all occasions.

However I have over the past few years seen things slow down a bit & that is why I joined up to hopefully bring a few new thoughts into the open & shine a light at some of the areas of Mike's work that has gone untouched or not looked at from all angles.

Regarding my comment about fans music & having their own agenda. I do hope I can find the words to make it clear what I mean so please do not take it the wrong way, I purely meant that I was sad that not so many people seem now to  want to be active on here just out of a interest in MO & a love for his music it seems to be out of a interest in their own stuff, some of which I think is very good. I am not in anyway saying that this is wrong every member should have every right to use the site within the rules be it to advertise their work or their ideas & thoughts after all that is surely what the very definition of what a FORUM SHOULD BE!  is it not a place in which people can freely share & debate idea's that concern them, & what a sad loss it would be if this or any forum forgets this & looses its FREEDOM!

Lastly all I can say regarding your thoughts on TBIV, these I do not share as I have said in the first post I made on this forum I love all the bells that Mike has ever rung & am grateful for all he has ever given me/us so I am very sad to read that you do not share in this feeling.

I do find forum names very interesting & I now see that yours is also,  Oblique might this be a angle, a synonym for Dutch angle, a cinematographic technique or maybe an interesting point of view. I thank you for having taken the time to share a moment & your views with me.

Hi I3ELLSEnd! I tend to think Music of the Spheres was TBIV in all but name... many tubularisms in the themes, and a structure very similar to TBIII. A worthy addition to the series, too.

Just as well perhaps that he didn't actually call it that though. I've been wondering whether it was even a wise decision, marketing-wise, to release yet another album (Tubular Beats) with the bell on it and a title that could easily be mistaken for "Tubular Bells". By now, someone who just wants the "plain vanilla" Tubular Bells (which I'm pretty sure is still what most (all) casual buyers are going for - that is assuming there are even any left) has to sift through a seriously confusing amount of different Bell-releases to find what they're looking for.

[Hi it happened again, whilst I was wriiting this post I have been joined by yet another. Therefore I have now edited & moved this post down because it would be a bit out of context if I left it here, so please move on see my next but one post! it is what was once posted here, oh I hope this makes some sense:=)
ORIGIAL POST HAS BEEN MOVED DOWN V

(Hi now back to what I was writing about in my last ON TOPIC POST prior to finding other life existed :-)

What I am getting or hinting at is this; MO released TB when he was 20 years old & soon it will have been 40 years since that & Mike will be 60, so could we not think that just maybe we might (please remember that this is only a thought, it may be way off & in alot of ways I hope it is as number 4 sadly may well be his last outing of the bell and maybe this could also mark the end of his career in that he will go out on the same tubular note that he arrived on ;-(O) so for us to expect to hear that Tubular bells IV (03 or 04) might be released on the 15th/25th 05 2013 (some of you may notice the significance in the dates) will be bitter sweet news depending upon what follows.

Please understand that if this was to be the I3ELLS'end I will be very sad as I would think all his fans who read this will be but at the same time I will be very happy that Mike feels his work is done & that he can rest in his latter years in peace feeling this way. I do hope that others feel this way in that this is exactly what we his fans should wish for him, although I do hope the place he ascends to will not be to far above the clouds & rain that we will never hear from him again, until the time when we & he walks upon the waters of our fathers stage once more, can this be a bridge that we can dream to one day cross over the Holy waters in order to get into paradise knowing my luck I will go on the day HEAVENS closed not OPEN :D maybe that should not have been a :-) maybe a :-( is more befitting )-.

May peace be with all always but never more so than on the 15th day of May on it may we awake to all be friends ! this is my everlasting hope & prayer.
Please GOD may I ORDER a change, if so only time will tell.
I3ELL(s)end.

Hi Holger these are truly great thoughts I can see where you are coming from & I feel the same regarding what I see or fear could now in the present or in future times affect Mike's legacy as I see the over use or allowing the name TB & the logo to be used on works that are not pure MO to be a potential watering down of what I feel is the very essence of MO his TBX, II, III (blow it I can feel the wrath descending upon me already! but lets face it the albums are 1, 2 & 3 & maybe 4 to come).

Plus also of great importance is of coarse his 4 like logo both this & the name TB are signs that new & old fans can look out for & the allowing it to be used on works that could be wrongly attributed to Mike should I feel be a worry to all who are fans & care.  Yet I must say that this latest coming together has produced some interesting results (especially the Ommadawn version) but I do still feel that I would like to see Mikes truly unique works kept almost dare I say it sacred as only recently I spoke to some youngsters who herd Ommadawn playing on my car stereo & they asked what it was that I was listening to & blow me when I saw them a few days later they said it was not by MO but by flipping YORK! I was speechless as I would think you all would be & if nothing is done probably will be.

The Logo is as I have already said so important in identifying Mike's work but blow me I have had it pointed out to me some time back when L+S came out that this seems to be maybe about to change into a sort of torus shaped bell & I also noticed that someone in the admin here on Tube net has recently also noticed this fact & they have now changed the Internet logo that appears on the search tab, it used to for ages right up until last year it was the 4 like sign & now it is the open torus you can see in your favorites & at the top of the page in the tab & address line so someone is on the ball! if a little late! 4 years or so on one might add, LOL welcome to the party! but enough clowning around for now<(;-lO)

Don't get me wrong I love Tubular Bells, but I'd prefer a Taurus IV.

The news of a new album this year with newly composed tracks gets me more exited than a TB 4 ever would.
This means the man still got inspiration in stead of re-re-reusing old ideas.

A Taurus IV would be fantastic! Especially if Mike went back to his earlier, darker self with faster, more upsetting melodies... much like Hergest Ridge or Taurus II.

I'd like that too. And please, more instrumentals and no more singing. If not for the next rock album than at least for the one(s) in the future.

Well, yeah, Tubular Bells is awesome and everything, but he really needs to leave it alone or it'll fall off.

Another Amarok, however...
