I seem to remember that Ian Eames did some animations based on drawings of 'impossible buildings' by M.C. Escher. I love those drawings, and I remember in particular a Ian Eames animation depicting the endless staircase. ;) Does anyone know if these animations were made for Mike or not?

spookily, i just asked the same question in the "platinum" forum. Great minds think alike? The latinum tour was my first live experience of mike, and that along with the 10th anniversary gig at wembly are still his greatest outings to me.
:D

Korgscrew told me that the movies are not available anywhere on their own. There are, however, some Mike performances included in The Essential video which haveĀ Escher-based Ian Eames movies played behind Mike. :)

I remember seeing these at one of Mike's 'Platinum' tours years ago on a big background screen behind the performers.

They were a bit on the ropey side as they were hand drawn and very shaky, but they did tie in with the beat.

I suppose it was really 'state of the art', (so easily pleased in those days, pre: Computer graphics).

The ones I remember were:-

The neverending stair with walkers on it.
The neverending canal, with water flowing.
The jugglerers throwing to each other from platforms and stairs at crazy angles.

Im sure you can still buy posters of the paintings which they were based on. If you feel that you have missed out on something.

Cheers MO fan  :D
