This has nothing to do with Mike, but he talked about experimenting with music, so I thought this may be appropriate =)

There's an illusion known as the "impossible scale". Maybe you've heard this before, but I heard it for the first time yesterday, and before I realised how it's possible I thought "What the...??"

I found a sample of it on the internet, so you can try it yourself if you have the Macromedia Shockwave plugin!

Play the scale up and down. Everything seems normal, right? Now, play the low C and then B... hm, does this sound right? ...also try the low C and then the high C and you'll notice something funny =)

Yes, it's funny indeed. :) It depends on how the harmonics of the sounds are combined together. I also heard a similar effect on an organ, and on an accordion.

Mike has been into trying different scales already,The Wind Chimes is in a Balinese scale!!!!
