It's that time of year again and i've started listening to In Dulci Jubilo. Does anyone else agree that it's a brilliant arrangement of the well-known carol with a stonking guitar solo, and do you also find that once you start playing it you simply have to put it on again?

It remains one of MO's most commercially successful singles that can relate him to Joe public - you'll find it on this year's Now Xmas from EMI...

The solo is one of my favourite Oldfield solos.Never pauses for breathe (which most solos do)and just flows.Plus it has that really nice tone he used back then (oh how i want that SG and the owner-we know who-wouldn't part with it for anything i suspect).The video is good too.
 It's not just on Now Xmas.It's on just about any xmas compilation you care to mention.If it has Slade's Merry Xmas Everyone it's a fair bet that In Dulci Jubilo will be on there somewhere.We used to sing a song called Good Christian Men Rejoice when i was a kid at school with the same tune.

I used to think In Dulci Jubilo was really corny back in the '70s but it's really grown on me over the years. A nice piece!  :)

I remember seeing it on Top Of The pops thinking "who is this guy, he's very clever" I loved the tune too but I don't have any memory of it being a Christmassy tune at the time.

This instrumental is a favourite at Christmas. When we trim the tree and have some of that eggnog (extra brandy lol!;) we end up having a knees up around the living room! Deb

Found it!

This brings back memories.I can almost smell the old school hall!Hell i can even feel the splinters in my backside from when the teacher used to tell us to "shuffle forward children" and we all did as we were told on a wooden floor that badly needed re-sanding and varnishing!

Tune: In Dulci Jubilo. Three settings of the tune: a Renaissance setting by Gesius, Bramley and Stainer's Victorian-era setting, and a four-part setting by J.S. Bach. [Download the mp3] Chorale setting by Bach from the Orgelbüchlein [Download the mp3]

Good Christian men, rejoice
with heart and soul, and voice;
Give ye heed to what we say:
News! News! Jesus Christ is born today;
Ox and ass before Him bow;
and He is in the manger now.
Christ is born today!
Christ is born today!

Good Christian men, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice;
Now ye hear of endless bliss:
Joy! Joy! Jesus Christ was born for this!
He has opened the heavenly door,
and man is blest forevermore.
Christ was born for this!
Christ was born for this!

Good Christian men, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice;
Now ye need not fear the grave:
Peace! Peace! Jesus Christ was born to save!
Calls you one and calls you all,
to gain His everlasting hall.
Christ was born to save!
Christ was born to save!

In dulci jubilo,
Nun singet und seid froh!
Alle unsre Wonne
Liegt in praesepio
Sie leuchtet wie die Sonne
Matris in gremio
Alpha es et O.
Alpha es et O.

O Jesu parvule,
Nach Dir ist mir so weh.
Tröst mir mein Gemüte,
O puer optime,
Durch all Deine Güte,
O princeps gloriae.
Trahe me post te.
Trahe me post te.

O Patris charitas!
O Nati lenitas!
Wir wären all verloren,
Per nostra crimina,
So hat er uns erworben
Coelorum gaudia.
Quanta gratia!
Quanta gratia!
