Silver Negus Group: Members Posts: 357 Joined: Sep. 2007 Posted: Aug. 02 2009, 12:14 I have toothace, a really sore throat and i'm all achy, I've been like this for two weeks and its getting worse.  I gave in yesterday and took painkillers for the symptoms but it didnt help any.  I hate being ill i'm like a big baby, or even small/big baby being 4ft11 and a half. ;-) Back to top

Oh yes as re pain, I've been to see a pain specialist at one of the local hospitals, as I wasn't getting any resolution to pain in R/H side, which i believe is gynae in origin, (as I think most women get some gynae pain at sometime in their lives, I think not having been pregnant and giving birth, maybe stores probs up later on).  Anyhow this pain Dr is referring me to a gynae professor, it's just the waiting.   Yes I can see why those who can afford it go private, rather than wait on the NHS. -------------- I'm going slightly mad, It finally happened, I'm slightly mad , just very slightly mad If you feel a little glum to Hergest Ridge you should come. I'm cleaning/defragging hard drives I'm so bored. Played "drug wars" a lot the last week or 2. Made over a million $, but now keep getting caught/killed by the cops or hoods. Fun game tho. I enjoyed the simpler version in the late 80's. This one is better. But programmed for increased difficulty.... My youngest is 1000 miles away in the ER with a kidney stone--way too young for this, but primarily because of diets these days, kids are getting diseases and conditions that used to be reserved for adults--including kidney stones. She is supposed to fly back here tomorrow morning, but who knows if she'll be able to do that. Not only did she have to fly feeling very uncomfortable, but her plane had to make an emergency landing in Ohio because it failed to gain altitude. It could have been worse, though, much worse. moonchildhippy Group: Members Posts: 1807 Joined: Dec. 2004 Posted: Aug. 10 2009, 06:21 My empathies with your youngest M-C.  I haven't had kidney stones, but I was hecked for it, as I seem to get alot of water/thrush infections lately.  I think I've had more in these past two years than i've had in the rest of my life.  I know I was in alot of pain at 2am Easter Sunday morning, I had to either get someone out of bed to drive me to A&E or ER for the Americans, as sitting in a car trying to drive 10 miles or so would have made me fel worse.  or there was an OOH doctors service later on in the day, 1/2 a mile away, so i went to that. Luckily the dotor had some antibiotics with him, as being Easter Sunday shops aren't allowed to open, or at least the big stores, and that inludes the chemists attached to my local Tescos store. -------------- I'm going slightly mad, It finally happened, I'm slightly mad , just very slightly mad If you feel a little glum to Hergest Ridge you should come. Until Sat. they didn't do anything to try to reduce it or break it up. They gave her med the other night that the specialist in NY is ok with her having. She's much better--for the moment, anyway. Moonchildhippy, sorry about your experience, too. It's awful having to be in hospital during the middle of the night. I once drove myself to the hospital in the wee hours of the morn--the kids were babies and I didn't want to get them up, so I told my then spouse that I was driving myself to the ER. He didn't really hear me (probably incorporated my words into a dream) and when I got back home at 5:30-6AM, he'd had no idea that I had been out of the house. He thought I was joking. I think that's how people disappear sometimes. They go on journeys to hospital in the middle of the night and something happens to them and no one knows where they are supposed to be, because the person they told wasn't really awake when plans were being communicated.   Moral of the experience: Notes are really, really good for possibly sleeping persons. -------------- "No such thing as destiny; only choices exist." The patient is immersed in a pool of water(I watched this in a hospital in the 90's doing clinicals). Depending on thier pain/anxiety level, they are sedated, IV Versed or oral Xanax, whatever.....in the 90's anyway, an MD would use a joystick to zero in on the X-rayed stone and then push a button. Fire! like a 9mm being fired. The sound would bust up the stone into pieces and it would be "pee'ed" out less painfully. It was cool to watch and worked wonders for patients.
