Does anyone have any covers of the first several minutes of "Incantations" that they might be working on? Would love to hear it....

so would I!  It's hardly the easiest of pieces though to emulate.  I used to be able to get a few bars in on the piano before the "fifths" sequence baffled me completely.

I've only seen a MIDI file here at Tubular.net and decided to use it as a mobile phone ringtune.  :)

That is exactly what I did as soon as I got a mobile phone that allowed MIDI ringtones.

Did you notice as I did that sometimes it sounds almost like an actual ringing phone?

No but I did modify it a bit to make it sound less like a phone playing a MIDI file and more like a phone ringtune. It's just the flutes in canon and the bass line I think.

After all MIDI ringtunes are quite lame.  :D

(Well I don't want any drums+riff+melody type ringtone anyway...)

But this Incantations bit is quite nice.

A link to download your modified version would be great...

...And I'd be very grateful :p

Am having problems with your file, Markus - it plays the first 38 secs and then jumps back to the beginning... :(

Same here. It only plays part, and says the file is more than 2 minutes long. Something is broken in it.

Blame the "Nokia Sound Converter".  ;)

Anyhow the original Incantations MIDI file is at the Tubular.net MIDI/ringtone section.

So you can use that one or modify it to suit your phone. Mine has quite limited amount of polyphony so it needed some tweaking...
