Well, I'm just wondering.  Don't wanna start an argument, but I'm getting a bit fazed by all this input from this guy Mike Chadwick.  It's getting a bit overwhelming.  Makes me wonder if it's an attempt to jam up the forum, something like the USA power overload last week.  There's getting to be too much Mike Chadwick stuff, much of it trivial and not particularly useful or informative.  I go into the forum right now, and just about every topic has something from Mike Chadwick as the last post.  Never seen this before.  I think it's over the top and spoiling the balance and entertainment value of the forum.  What does anybody else think?  Should he cool off a bit?  :/

I noticed it yesterday but on almost every discussion board I'm member of is such a person who posts useles things only because he / she wants to have more posts.
People usually ignore such members, don't even open topics where such spammers have posted in. It is sometimes very annoying.
I've already written in the Q&A forum that for a discussion board member the quality of posts should be more important than the number of posts because Mike Chadwick did this:

On 4th September 2001 White_Thunder asked who was the singer of MS.
On 4th September 2001 Alnilam replied
On 12th August 2003 Mike Chadwick wrote:

yes - this is maggie reilly

This reply was absolutely useles.

I think it would help if the number of posts wasn't shown.
Mike Chadwick, I'm sorry but if you want people on this board to take your posts seriously think about before you click on "add reply".

Few years ago I saw an elder woman selling mushrooms on the square. I felt very sorry for her because she'd been standing there for long time but nobody wanted to buy the mushrooms. She looked so desperately... Maybe she needed some money to buy chocolate for her grandchildren who had come to visit her...
I bought an extremly expensive pack and it almost made the woman cry. She was so thankful...
Then I saw two more people buy it. Probably because I'd bought it.
This is a similar situation.

A couple things here:

One is that I agree that it should be about quality and not quantity of posts (how people will take that, coming from me, I don't know! ). I do sometimes get the feeling that certain people are just trying to bump up their post count and I can only say that that's a pretty silly way of going about things - it's not a competition here, what makes people come to the board is the quality of the discussion, not the number of posts.
I have been attempting to drop hints over the past couple days, but obviously they've been a little too subtle...

The other is that this may have been better done privately - anyone with problems relating to the board can always PM me (or Olivier) and we'll work on sorting things out as best as we can.

I'll close the topic here, as I don't want this to turn into some kind of slanging match...
