Hey, this has nothing to do with Mike, but i don't care! I'm a dad again!  beautiful girl, katie. And why do women always want to know the weight. 8lb 1 oz, saturday 3rd july at 11.24.

So what song/tune will keep her from doing the whhahh/feeeeed me stuff? We tried "molly" already.

Congratulations to you all and well done Mrs Olrac.....and tell Olrac_jnr from me he has to help  ;)

so there'll be no more hours of online maestro for you my lad eh... just when i had my server up and running again..tsk tsk...these babies are so inconsiderate

And the weight thing is important!! When a woman looks down at her massive belly she hopes that the bump is all baby...so that once the baby's born, she can fit into her pre-pregnancy size 10 jeans again !!!!!

Love to you all
DW x

Congrats, Andy, from your Italian friend! ;)

Lullabye song? Try Étude. It worked for my 1-year-old nephew. :)

congrats & best wishes to your "better half", too.
about the tune: "Tear in your Hand" by Tori Amos is somethin' that always works "on" the daughter (8 months old now) of a good friend.
:)

Later,

Many congratulations Olracuk, to you and your wife and to your family. And welcome to the world, little one.

How wonderful to share your happy news with this community.

As a mother of three boys, now past the small portable phase,( I remember those days so well !!;) I did find that Beethoven's Pastoral symphony used to help with the sleeping thing, and if that didn't work running the bath taps was good. And one of mine used to fall instantly into the arms of morpheus if I played Nirvanna !! But there's so many Oldfield pieces that do work too, and now there's Voyager and Tres Lunas and Songs of Distant Earth etc etc, and don't forget Incantations. But use Amarok wisely!!

Very best wishes, hope all goes well,

bee

It's always good to hear good news like that, Olrac. Best wishes to you and your family!

Music for putting babies to sleep? Maybe Brian Eno and Harold Budd's "The Plateaux Of Mirror"? :)

:D

Thank you for all your kind words. Mother and Baby Katie are doing fine, mostly sleeping in small sections.

Tres Luna was OK, but TSODE worked a treat, sent all of us off! Mind you, it always did anyway  ;)

Congrats, indeed, Andy, to you, the mom, and the entire family! Welcome, Katie, to this spinning, blue world!

I'm not sure why weight is important (around this town, it seems to be a point of curiosity to both men and women), but it seems for some women to begin with babyhood and never quite go away.  :D  My youngest one was just 8 pounds and was predicted to be 6-something, so it was fun to tell that to Ms. "and please let me know if I'm wrong cos I'm never off by more than 2 ounces" Ultrasonographer! Hehehe!

If I had a baby these days, I'd play Tres Lunas and TSODE, too, but for my kiddies, Incantations, Hergest Ridge, Discovery, Om, Down to the Moon by A. Vollenweider, stuff I'm missing at the moment, and ah....and something called Earth Mother Lullabies did it. And nursing. Lots and lots of nursing.  ;)

Anyhow, enjoy! You have other kids, so you know how fast this special, magickal time flows.....
