I just watched the recent keynote from Apple, and they announced (and demonstrated) a new feature in iTunes called iTunes LP. Basically it's adding linear notes (just as you are used from the vinyl records artwork) digitally to an album download. So you have lyrics, videos, galleries and all the extras which gives the digital download a more romantic felling to it. They are giving the oppertunity to let the artist (or record company) to add these extras and design them like they want.

So this is exciting news, as it is now possible to add extra content to Mike's digital albums from iTunes. I think Tubular Bells will be the first one to add these contents (probably the 2009 edition), but wouldn't it be great for this from his upcoming remastered/remixed albums?

(if you want to see a demo, watch the keynote on apple.com or try it yourself on iTunes 9 with for example The Doors album).

That sounds like a good idea.Be nice to get some of the artwork back.In my day (grandad)we had proper bloody artwork on proper big albums and i did sit and devour every word on the cover (check out the gatefold on FMO).The ipod lacks that due to it's size obviously so it would cool to be able to have all that to hand.Only problem is it's damn near imposible to roll a joint on an ipod.So i'm told.

You still wont be able to blu-tac the album cover to your bedsit wall to hide a damp patch tho'

ELO Out of the Blue and Yes's Fragile along with FMO covered a whole lot of dodgy wallpaper in my teenage years

I still like to have the "real" thing (LP and cd), but this iTunes LP would make a nice alternative.

I also place the LP or cd near me when I play the album, so I can get the feeling from the artwork. ;)
