Hello everyone.  This is my first post here, and, to jump in with both feet, I present the following link.  It's a cover of the first seven minutes or so of TB, but with a loung-ey feel.  I had fun syncopating the familiar melodies and arpeggios, and though this meant ringing in changes, it is intended as a sincere tribute.  I don't know yet if I will continue on and do the rest of it or not.  (I have made a start on the "bell" section and some of side 2.)

Tubular Fins

When you visit the page, you will see links at the top to some other songs.  These are Flippyshark originals.  Check them out.  In particular, you will find that the track entitled "To One In Paradise" is heavily influenced by MO, particularly by Hergest Ridge.  (I'm placing a link to that song in the other fan music forum.)

Thanks for looking in,
Darryl

Not bad at all Darryl, made me dance in my seat.

You need to make a video now and post it on You Tube, I use  Windows Movie maker to make my videos, it's simple and fun. And while you are in there check out 'Van Helsings Curse' version of 'Tubular Hell' which I had heard about but only heard myself the other day and it is awesome, and also the version by the Australian band 'The Magnificent Seven' called 'Tubular Cow Bells', Yee Har!!! Type in Tubular Hell to find the fist one and Tubular Cow Bells to find the second one.

Darryl,

Enjoyed this immensely.  Went to your website and had a listen to your other pieces.  Quite an array of styles.  I hear a bit of Alan Parsons in your work and of course, Mike Oldfield.

Would love to be able to download some of your stuff.

Thanks all.  It's nice to get some happy feedback.  I do plan to make my stuff available for download soon, though I haven't yet figured out where or how.  (I'd welcome suggestions.)  And eventually, I'll probably go all the way through with Tubular Fins, but it'll take a while.  Anyway, thanks for taking a look.

As a big fan of the Alan Parsons Project and, of course, Mike Oldfield, I really have to say "thank you" for creating "To one in Paradise". I think it's your best song, a perfect blend of Oldfieldian melody (the mandolin-like parts remind me of the start of Tubular Bells Part II) and Parsonian orchestration. And you have a great voice too! I think that your song is even better than the same-titled song that Parson & Woolfson themselves based on the same E.A. Poe poem. Congrats!

Regarding Tubular Fins, I really hope you'll complete it one day. I love it, and I think the jazzy feel is particularily well suited to TB... ;)

If you don't mind, Darryl, I tracked down a direct link to the file and it's this:

http://web.mac.com/flippys....%29.m4a

If you're bothered by that just say and I'll edit this post and remove it. This is to allow people who don't like QuickTime (particularly the browser plugin) to download the file directly for playing in something else, personally I went for VLC Media Player.

Just started listening, sounds funky. Nice work. Might comment further once I've finished it. :)
