Julio Iglesias - Quiero

Yes, I know that Julio Iglesias is one of the soapiest singers in the world, maybe the soapiest, but, if you want some fun, download the file I linked above (it's just a 45 seconds fragment) and tell me what do you think of it: is Mr. Oldfield's rendition of the same piece :D better or worse than this? ;)

P.S.: Link expires in 7 days, of course, and I don't think I shall be re-posting it. :)

Everyone's interpretation is different, and everyone has a right to that opinion. There is no "right" one, I am adding this post to communicate my thoughts to share them with like-minded souls who will be able to comment in good nature.

I downloaded it. Sorry, my cloth-ears did not recognize it. What is it supposed to be?

@ Hiawatha: OK, this topic isn't serious, but do you really mean what you say? :D If the answer is 'yes'... well, the main melody of both "Quiero" and M.O.'s "Romance" is the well-known (at least here) "Romance from Jeux interdits", originally played by Narciso Yepes. Mike did only half of it. :)

Sorry, I've only heard "Light" twice, so I did not remember it from there. That will change soon, I'm sure! (I'm stuck on "Shade" right now)

Never heard or heard of the Interdicts version, so, like with "Lakme", it is like it is an original MO composition to me.

Hahahahahaha!

"Jeux interdits" (Forbidden games) is a 1960s movie. If you search on some p2p program for Narciso Yepes or Romance or Jeux Interdits it will most probably pop up the original version. It still sounds strange to me, however, that you're not familiar with it. :)

If it is a foreign language film, that might explain it.

Okay... here's the original version, played by Pepe Romero on (classical) guitar.

Yes, sure I do know - IMHO he would've managed better at soccer than at singing corny songs. :D Would you like to listen to "Quiero", or to Narciso Yepes' version? Just let me know by a PM. ;)
