It sounds exactly the same as the original (even the drums, the mixing...) so I don't think it's live.

The absence of audience shots would seem to prove it's a promo video (yes, I am aware that lots of promo videos are faux-live with audience shots included).  Dammit, when are we gonna get all of them on proper DVD's?!  DammitX2!

Slight thread-jack:  I always thought that was a good-hair period for him.  I tried to do something similar back in the early 80's.  Just never worked for me (bit of a fat head).  Had to eventually end up with my "variation on Commander Riker" look.

Fully agree.  Great track.  Relaxing and dreamy.

I like it a lot myself; however, I see it as a bit of a wasted opportunity. He could have developed this nice tune into something much more elaborate; it could even have served as a section of a larger piece.

One of these days I'm gonna get around to compiling all the short B-side instrumentals onto one disc.  Maybe crossfade them all into one long piece so they flow, taking out the individual track indexing.  Call it "Amarok II (Guitar Noodling)".

Be sure to add "in the pool" to that list of tunes to compile. It was to me a companion peice to jungle gardenia.

Hmm, I put a comment on youtube. Very odd to be playing a B-side on TV, but great for us fans.

As for the hair - at least Mike never succumbed to the eye-liner/ puffed up hair of the early 80's, unlike some

Musically Inspired did a fantastic extended version of Jungle Gardenia a little while ago.Unfortunatly it does`nt look to be available from the links posted there anymore.Although maybe you`ve heard it already,I don`t know?

Jungle Gardenia Thread

I do agree with you though every time I listen to that track it always leaves me wanting more.Maybe Brandon kind of thought the same thing as yourself?

The link doesn't work any more.

Sometimes I like to do the same thing, but in reverse-make long tracks shorter.  Ha!-you should hear what I did with Pink Floyd's "Pigs (Three Different Ones)"!  Not long ago I did an edit of ELO's "Roll Over Beethoven" that rips the official single edit to shreds.  EMI's single edit was an absolute abortion that should never have seen the light of day!

Just a little side-obsession.

He did Moonlight Shadow and Jungle Gardenia on Swedish TV in what must have been late 1984. Bizarrely Anita lip-synched to the original track from Crisis. Morris Pert was on drums. Can't remember who the other musicians were. Possibly they also did Pictures in the Dark (or played the video?).

It's from 1986. The other guy is Rick Fenn.  When Mike became very close to Anita he went to Polar Studios in Stockholm to record a new vocal track with her for Moonligth Shadow. The version can be heard here:
