I was wondering if Mike ever keeps in mistakes, or does he always 'punch in' (I mean "re-record" for you non-tech heads!;)  and re-play the part correctly? I already know that he didn't have time to correct the mistakes on TB1.

He seems to be a perfectionist, so I assume he would re-do a part.

There are many mistakes in Mike's works, even from his early records using traditional instruments to his recent more electronic orientated work, such as The Songs Of Distant Earth. There was a lengthy discussion on these forums entitled 'Mistakes And Strange Things' which was a fascinating list of all of the errors and audio oddities throughout Mike's work, I just tried searching for it for you and couldn't find it, but I imagine its somewhere here, maybe in the General or Q&A forum. Anyway yes, Mike is a perfectionist, but he has also said, with particular reference to TSODE, that he took out all of the mistakes, felt it didn't sound soulful or human enough, that it sounded too perfect, and so he put the mistakes back in! So Mike is as aware as anyone that an honest performance is still important even in these ages where digital technology may afford a musician technical perfection.
