You should get 'Silk Road 1 & 2' or 'Oasis'.
Listen first. Then Buy!

Try "Silk Road Suite". It is Kitaro fully orchestrated. Compared to this, all of the other Kitaro I've ever listened to (5+ albums) sounded rather weak, spacey, and lacking dynamics.

"Silk Road Suite" is one of only three long instrumental works by others that I think can hold its own against the works of Mike Oldfield.

I only remember listening to "Silk Road", of his albums. It's good, but his style is more New Age-y than I tend to like. Possibly not my cup of tea, but I still think he's good.

I assume you are referring to other "Silk Road", not "Silk Road Suite'.

It might not be the right one, or at least the one I mentioned. That one was Silk Road SUITE. There are other Silk Road's.

Incredible, but true. Imagine that, an artist who actually recycles names through subsequent albums.

I have The Best of Kitaro and The Best of Kitaro Volume 2 and this is all of his that I have heard but I have been told that the Silk Road Collection is the Best. My albums are dated 1995 and 1999 and the first album includes Caravansary and Silk Road. I don't listen to them, it is pretty music but nothing instrumental compares to or thrills me likes Mikes music and I have never felt the need to listen to anything similar, these albums were given to me as gifts.

Track Listing

Best of Kitaro

1. Orochi (7:07)
2. Caravansary (5:50)
3. Matsuri (9:00)
4. Silk Road (5:45)
5. Mirage (4:20)
6. Shimmering Horizon (4:47)
7. Agreement (6:30)
8. Sundance (6:21)
9. Koi (6:30)
10. The Clouds (7:10)
11. Heaven and Earth (7:38)

Best of Kitaro Vol 2

1. Tenku
2. The Field
3. Koi
4. Lady of Dreams
5. Dance of Sarasvati
6. The Bottom of the Sky
7. Gaia
8. Heaven and Earth
9. A La Nanita Nana
10. Echoing Wall

Other albums listed in the sleeve notes are:

Live in America
Ten Years
Tenku
The Light of the Spirit
Kojiki
Dreams (featuring Jon Anderson)
Mondala
Cirque Ingenieux
Gaia
An Enchanted Evening
Peace on Earth
The Soong Sisters

Tubularman, Kitaro IMO is an amazing artist. Was listening to "Silk Road" only just the other day, it's so good. I've found a site dedicated to him by a Norwegian fan for you. Happy listening :D here
