I'm listening now for the fourth time, Joerg.
There is something about your music, and your playing, that pierces straight through all the layers - so that without knowing why, without any obvious cause, the emotion is just released somewhere deep inside. This new piece is so beautiful, and so sad - that it strikes like pain. 'What about us?', indeed. What about all of us, doing more or less the best we can most of the time, and getting buffeted this way and that by misfortunes that are often quite beyond our control. Your music makes me think of an artist friend who died recently, still painting to the end; of another friend whose wife is terribly ill, and has been for years, but who carries on with astonishing bravery.
This is basically, essentially, the human condition; and that is what your music is about, Joerg. It's a kind of parallel in sound for the trials and heartbreaks that we all experience.
Wonderful, my friend. I've said it so often now that it must be losing its impact, but to hear your music like this, released as you give birth to it, is a tremendous privilege. Thank you. I hope 2008 makes your life even richer than it is at present.
