I know mike said the piece could never be played live but everytime i listen to it i feel the complete opposite! I think it could be played live and could be a fantastic live work. I can imagine banks of synths, guitars, percussion (including household items) a large african section, brass and strings, pianos on a huge stage, and the entire 60 minute work being played live. Can you imagine how amazing that would be?

I know it wont happen but i certianly think it  possible!

Anyone agree?

Oh to be able to dream........Dream of something for long enough and it may become a reality, then again maybe not!

I  can just imagine the huge africa section building up with a massive choir and the entire section comes crashing in for those final bars as fireworks shoot in the sky....oh that would be so sweet!

There are lots of bits that would be great to hear live from it, including seeing mike throw a glass on the floor and sat on stage brushing his teeth! That would be so funny!

I think he would need a band the size of the TB2 performance, if not a few more in each department!

Oh well, I shall continue to dream.....

Or perhaps (like the Sound of Music, or The Rocky Horror Show) the audience could participate? Bringing cups of tea, vacuum cleaners and tool boxes in?

I personally think that some sections of Amarok would be nice to hear live on a mix full of power and improvisations to link all the bits selected...

as well as the fact that, as far as I know, Mike hasn't talked about or acknowledged the album Amarok for a long time and would probably rather forget about that period of his career.

He talked about it (I could even say, praised it) just this year, while advertising The Platinum Collection in a one-hour-long Dutch radio show. I don't know if it's transcribed by anyone but if not, it wouldn't be useless to do it, I suppose.

I've often wondered about making up a 'track sheet' for Amarok like this one for Taurus II. It would be quite interesting to work out how many guitarists, keyboardists etc. you would need to perform it. It would be quite a few, but if you had really good musicians it wouldn't be a prohibitive amount.

Of course, if Mike ever did decide to play Amarok my brain would explode from excitement and anticipation, so perhaps it's better that he doesn't...

Both, Obviously! The crescendo of the music and then - Wham! - raven's head adds to the amazing noise.

Plus, it would give all those old "I was there TB2 Horse Guards" folk an excuse to dig out the rain capes.  :D  :p

*edit*
I just went to the new Orchestral Amarok site, but can't see anything about venue or date. I know these guys have done great work before, so are genuine, but any clues as to where and when? It does sound exciting, and would really be something to see/hear
