I mentioned this, I believe, in "oldfield heard in odd places". Now I am outright asking if anyone else has heard or knows of it.
Years ago, at a movie theatre, they ran a commercial roughly 30 minutes long. It was about the Alaska pipeline (then being built). The soundtrack for it was something that consisted of the first section of TB (called "Introduction" on TB 2003 and known as the Exorcist theme to many), played out through different variations and progressions, but never really "moving on" to the later parts of TB during its 30 minute length.
I don't recall enough, and probably did not even know enough at that time, to tell if it was actually recorded by Mike Oldfield or not.
I suspect, but am not sure, that the movie theatre ran it before a showing of Ralph Bakshi's Wizards cartoon movie. That would place this in 1977.
Has anyone heard of such a thing?
