In the Dark Star Magazine of this month, Mike said in the interview that he asked Maggie to contribute to a song (however the proposal was rejected by her manager). Just curious - any more information about this? It doesn't seem to appear any songs on Light + Shade, right? So, maybe the next album will include more vocal songs? :-)

And isn't it strange that her manager refused... wouldn't that have been great publicity for her? Hmm...

No, there's no more news about Maggie Reilly - she or her manager seems to still be resisting working with Mike. However, don't assume that there are no songs on Light + Shade, just because there's no human singer...

Short answer: No.

Longer answer: It was either Peter Weihe or Tim Renwick (he played in Mike's band in 1982) as they are listed on the cover as guitarists.

That interview is about two years old, around the time of TB2003 which doesn't haven't any songs on it either, so I don't know what album he wanted Maggie Reilly to sing on but I don't think it was this one, maybe Tres Lunas or Maestro.

He wouldn't necessarily have had any particular album in mind. Mike, like many composers/songwriters, keeps some ideas on the boil for a long time before finally serving them up (most memorably, Man In The Rain, which he'd been demoing with Barry Palmer back in the mid 80s, the music from which then became Heaven's Open).
I have no idea whether or not it was one of the songs which are on Light + Shade which he had her in mind for, though.

I'm sure the song he's revering to is Man in the Rain. Did he not say at the time that he asked Maggie to sing it for him but her manager told her, for some reason or other, not to. Thats why Cara Dillon sounds so similar, presumably she was the closest he could get.

Maybe Maggie is too fat to get on the stage now!

Sorry

I thought she was pregnant in that video.

As for Maggie's manager, I wonder if she is the same one who manages Elizabeth Taylor. Sorry, Liz, it is hard to qualify as a movie star anymore if just about the only thing you do for in the last 30 years is play the mother-in-law in the Flintstones movie!

Reilly? Not really: gallery on her unofficial webpage.

As she gave birth to her child in 1985, it was probably so.
