I was quite surprised. While working tonight a bunch of people decided to play Hot 103 (or is it 104? I don't remember, either way it's boring popular garbage...hip hop, rap, punk, etc) on the radio (BTW I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada). They have every night at 9:00 a 9 hit song countdown. They play all nine in a row from ninth to first all rated on how many people requested it I guess. And by the time they got down to 1 the announcer said "Wow, a lot of calls and a lot of requests for this song! Here's "Every Time We Touch". Immediately I thought of the Maggie Reilly original (she wrote that, right? I know she sings it, I have the MP3), but when the song started I didn't recognize it..until the course started. It was a dance remix of Maggie's song (not dissimilar from how many have remixed Moonlight Shadow and To France. Almost identical, actually)! And it was voted #1! I was shocked! And everyone where I worked knew it and was singing along with it! I was like..."if you guys only knew!"

That's the closest I think my favourite type of music has gotten to the general public (if only that it's a remix from a singer who once worked with Mike! Still quite an achievment! ) That made my night :).

Yes, I used to feel that way when someone had the TB riff as their mobile phone ringtone. I have enough (different) favourite types of music now to almost be on the same terms with the 'public', not that I see favouring one particular style as a bad thing! :)

Did the old "Moonlight Shadow" get any airplay at all in Canada?

Nope. The only other thing I've ever heard of MO on the radio was a small excerpt from The Sunken Forest from TSODE on a commercial. Nothing else.
