Just read the article in the Mail on Sunday. 3 pages with lost of interesting stuff about Mikes's childhood, his mother, his on unhappiness when he became rich and famous with Tubular Bells and his 3 marriages. He has moved to a huge stately home looking house in Gloucestershire which overlooks the river severn, so may be near his old place. He paid 5 million for it! He seems very happy with Fanny and has a 2 year old with her called Luke. Some good pics of Mike with RB, Anita, his house and recording studio. I guess someone will put up a scan soon.

Liked it a lot to read(got the scans, soon they'll be online) and I do like a lot the mature and secure Mike Oldfield the interview revealed to us.I'm impressed and happy regarding his new persona.

Is it me, or are the years catching up with Mike's looks? That pic outside his country pile (if it is his and not just somewhere photogenic for the shoot) is not very flattering.

Yeah I thought the same thing, I think the inside shot has been airbrushed somewhat.

The second pic of Mike, outside his home, with that hat(which reminds me of Phil Collins on an old promo shoot during the Abacab days) + that Barbour-kinda-of jacket...hummm...sounds way too ol' man.But if he had the chance to change the position of that hat, like Chris Thompson used to wear while he was the singer for Alan Parsons live band in 94/95...that would make a big difference!

He looks like a refined country gentleman to me.  And for someone who is his exact age, I find him very attractive.

Rather interestingly today, it was my birthday. I finally managed to meet up with olracUK who was able to find a copy of the magazine in the pub I was at to show me.

I only read the first page briefly as I was sat outside in a cold wind at the time. Now I've read the scanned version through, it's good to see an article that discusses Mike's past in general rather than a vehicle for publicity and promotion.

The promises of a non-electronic and hopefully non-dated next album look even clearer. I am also interested in what the forthcoming biography will be like and how good a read it will be for the many musical fans.

In one of the radio interviews, Mike said "I'm bored with that drum loop stuff" - so I guess his experiment with L&S are a thing of the past, done and forgotten.

Nice to see a pic with a real guitar though, but if it's all digital mixing now, and most guitar's sold off, why the big input unit behind him? Just an antique to look pretty?

I thought it was a nice article. He looks and sounds well and happy and that's all that matters to me.

What a fantastic house! And in a beautiful part of the world, I liked the bit about going for walks & communing with the ancient spirits in the ironage fort nearby. May he & and his whole family find true contentment there.

I am curious as to why he is holding what looks like a springer spaniel puppy whilst sitting next to Richard Branson in one of the photos!

And best of all, the bit I loved to read was about the new project. Real instruments played by a truly talented musician. And he's doing it for himself now. It's the best news. I hope he really takes his time & enjoys creating it.

bee :)

Thank God indeed! Thanks to Nacho also for making the scans available. It is a well written and informative article and the pictures and info certainly show that Mike has exhorcized his demons and is coming to a place where he's mmore at peace - good for him. Hopefully this new focus in life will bring new focus in his next project, which sounds exactly like what I've been waiting for.

BTW - I wonder what he says the ancient spirits! Maybe, "Fancy a guiness!"
