Totally agree with you!!! I love that group and next month I'll see them live for the third time.
I always loved the out of tune sound of that mellotron. And I heard that at many things the damn thing would get broke, so they had to fix it, so that the concerts would sometimes start very very late!!!
Unfortunately he's not in the band anymore, but they do use the mellotron sound. I thought it was weird too, that they would interview Justin Hayward about it. He did play it on some songs, just as he did have a mini moog, while Mike had the big one.
I'm very curious about that programme, so I might try to find some things about it on youtube... or whatever...
