Hello. This is probably very bad form of me to post this on the same day I register, but I've been aware of these forums for a while, taking a look every now and then, and yesterday I uploaded the second part of a little project of mine that I would be really interested in getting some feedback on.

It's been quite a long time since I've been playing music on any regular sort of basis and this pair of EPs is an experiment really in learning to write again, done entirely in midi so that I could really concentrate on just writing and arranging.

Writing stuff that I actually play real instruments on is stage two.

Anyway, I thought if there was anywhere that I could find people who could give me some good feedback on the tracks I've been working on it would be here.

Each EP is eleven tracks long (they're quite short tracks though) and nine of the tracks appear on both in different forms, with two on each EP being unique to that EP. Hopefully that makes some sense.

Anyway, here are the links to the pages for each one.

Midi .1 EP
Midi .2 EP

I'd love to hear what people have to say about them, good or bad.

That's a bit of a bugger.

I have a currently empy youtube channel, so I'll have a go at sticking them up on that.

There's a huge amount of potential in that music - I found it hard to listen due to the lack of dynamics, especially Midi .1 but imagining what it could sound like with real instruments and lots of emotion was quite easy because of the potential in there.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Terry.

Thank you.
I understand what you mean about the lack of dynamics. My next project will have proper instruments in and might include a couple of reworkings of the tracks from these EPs. I definitely want to have a go at One October Morning with the lead part starting at 1:18 done on electric guitar. I just need to get my recording space sorted out a bit.

I've also added Midi .1 EP as a playlist on my YouTube account. http://www.youtube.com/user....4527660

That link should work I hope.
Midi .2 will come in the next day or two.

:)

Hi Wendy ,Thanks to Ginger Daddys comments I re listened with a fresh ear.
You can definitely see potential in this but in its current form it sounds a lot like the Jon Pertwee era of Doctor Who (which I love btw) or maybe the Tomorrow People.
It all there it just needs (as he said) some real dynamics and real instruments.
Its got atmosphere to boot and I will look forward to hearing the next real instrument renditions.
Keep up the good work. :)

Morning Wendy - I like the simpicity - it's very soothing.

"Wake Up Sleepy" and "October Morning" are my favourites.

Thanks.

I finally got the playlist up for the second part. I made the mistake of allowing the program I was using to stick the files together to update and couldn't work out after that how to do it.  :/
