There's been some comments that he sounds similar (vocally) to Freddie Mercury. In fact, he has a reference to the Queen in his Number 1 single "Grace Kelly".

I've found a home-made flash video and put it on my mySpace page.

I haven't bought the Album, but he does sound very good. There are some lovely bouncy tunes in there, and some wonderful falsettos that remind me of Frankie Valli. I have to say, I do love his single "Grace Kelly", and the reports that he sounds like the new Freddie Mercury are true. But, in saying that, no-one and nothing can quite compare to Mercury, but Mika is the closest we have had in a long time.

He can't be compared (yet) when it comes to what FM was as persona, but purely vocally he is at the same level and capabilities.  Brian May also has acknowledge it if you read between the lines his soapbox there might even collaboration between BM and Mika in future.

I have heard Grace Kelly which is very nice and another song this morning which didn't impress me much, but I think we can expect some good work in future from this guy.

T here's a discussion on the Queenon Line message board about  Mika's similarity to Freddie Mercury.   I haven't heard any of his songs apart from Grace Kelly, must admit it's one of those songs that can get stuck in ya head, such is its catchiness. As for buying the album I  don't know.

Agreed no-one can compare  to Freddie in terms of vocal ability apart from Robert Plant, both could /can hit the high notes and have the most beautifully amazing voices in rock music :)  :D .

Wonder if Brian will work with Mika in the future, could be interesting, not that anyone could ever replace Freddie Mercury   :O .  I know when Brian and Roger Taylor re-formed Queen as Queen + Paul Rodgers this caused some controversy, don't know why as it sounds like Queen meets Free, and adds a new twist to Queen and also the vocal abilities of Mr Rodgers   .

I know if Brian May says something is good then it usually is, I know I can trust Brian May's judgement.

The only thing with Mika I feel he might be a little to poppy for my tastes, saying that my tastes vary from Folk, Blues  through  to , Elgar,Wagner operas, what's now termed "Classic Rock"  Goth, symphonic rock, Prog, and some metal :D.

As for Mika  signing any Queen album, I guess it would be interesting to hear him sing "White Queen (As It Began), The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke, The Prophets Song, You Take My Breath Away, and Somebody To Love, these really show Freddie Mercury's vocal abilites, for me Mika signing Queen songs just isn't the same, maybe he sounds too similar to Freddie   :O

Oooh, fantastic to find some other people who like Mika :D I saw his promotional concert in Amsterdam; VERY small venue, about 200 people, and just him and a keyboard onstage. He tore the roof down. He's EXTREMELY talented, as a player, singer and song-writer. Unless he goes the Britney route, i.e. drinks himself to insanity, he'll be HUGE for the next 50 years. Which is a good thing, considering I actually like the guy a lot. It's time world had another majorly famous popstar that's actually talented.
