Does anybody know if Mike smoke cigarettes nowadays?
Have he tried to stop smoking some period? I've saw a interview article from 2001 and there, he said that he was
trying to stop with cigarettes. Have he failed?
If he had smoked since his youth, I wonder how he
feels... :/

He does smoke roll up cigarettes which are supposedly healthier than the normal type (they smell less too) but cigarettes of all types age you faster, as does sitting in the sun to long, and Mike has started to look quite old in recent years. Mind you his 50 but for a long time he looked very young for his age. Even during the 99 tour he much younger than his mid 40's.

Well the price of cigarettes has just gone up 8 pence a packet in todays budget, but i'm sure Mike can still afford that.
What is interesting about giving up smoking is a few years ago Mark Knopfler gave up smoking and his singing voice has improved greatly, you can notice on the last 2 solo albums he is a much better singer than he ever was.

Well,Mike currently smokes Amber Leaf.

Cigarretes causes a lot of bad effects, like producing free radicals who are much into the process of aging. And it can lead into bad problems like lung and throat cancer...

Mike still looks better than some 50 year-old guys out there, but the fact he looks a bit older have a cause - too much sun in Ibiza...

Don't forget that Mike, besides the Guinness and his rollups,is much into sports, and that is one of the things that keeps him looking good for his age.

I'd love to see him quitting smoking.
I personally don't like,but...nothing is perfect!

Just look at Jean Michel Jarre who is 55 and even looks younger than Mike. ;)

But then again, I've never seen Jarre smoking (he sometimes did I heard) and I even got some rumours that he had a hair transplantation.  :O
