I haved just burned a CD for my grandmother, last time I visited I took TB II with me and she like most of the tracks but not Altered state, based on this I decided to make her a relaxing compilation of Mike's works. Here's what I chose (I have HR, Ommadawn, TB, TBII, TSODE, Voyager, Crises, Amarok and TBIII in my collection.)

1. Song of the sun
2. Let there be light
3. Celtic rain
4. Clear Light
5. She moves through the fair
6. Weightless
7. The Great Plain
8. Sunset Door
9. Tattoo
10. Flowers of the forest
11. Ascension
12. A new beginning

Given the choice of my selection, what would you have chosen? Remember the Cd can only hold 80 minutes  :)

I like your list, but just wanted you to know that I am a grandmother three times.  Amarok is my favorite MO album.

LOL, no I'm not that old but am older.  And I hope that when I reach 78 that my tastes haven't changed!!

May I suggest that perhaps your ears won't be up to some of the harsh abrupt sounds of Amarok when you're that age  ;)

Congratulations on being what I consider a 'hip' granny!  :)

For the rather elderly, how about a couple of tracks off of "Platinum"? Particularly:

"Charleston", which has a rather old-time feel to it.
"I Got Rhythm". The Gershwin original was quite popular decades ago.

An old country music fan might like "Flying Start", which is rather twangy.

Where the Falls of Minnehaha
Flash and gleam among the oak-trees,
Laugh and leap into the valley."
