Topic: Mike had a Pet Lion?? In the 80's??< Next Oldest | Next Newest >

I think i read it in some net bio, that in the early 80's, when Mike was having one of the 1st arguments with Branson...that tabloids of that time refered that Mike had his "pet lion" to maul Branson :D

...ot was it just a comic strip that showed it??  :D

Well is it true or not??  :D

If it is....what happened to the lil poooor lion?? :D

Please enlighten me!    :laugh:

I really don't know. What I do know, however, is that Oldfield had a pet parrot and a dog called CD. He now has a cat but that's all I know about his pets.

Can't find the page where i read about a "lion"...i only remember it was in the early 80's.....

I was reading somewhere else about a rich guy in the United States who had pet lions in his yard. Or, at least they were in his yard when they weren't escaping and wandering loose!

I wonder if Mike's Lion had anything to do with the Amarok section of the same name.

It's actually true - the Lion was called Clyde and lived with Mike at Througham for a while. There's also a story I was told by somebody in Kington of Mike having a big cat while he was at The Beacon, which escaped and got shot at by a farmer. I don't think there's much evidence to support that, though.

Clyde existed, though, and attacked Phil Newell once. There were some pictures of Clyde in the Dark Star interview with Phil.

He probably wanted to do a video with it, but didn't want to be mistaken for Madonna in "Like a Virgin" !
